I never thought I'd truly say this again after playing the first Resident Evil, but I am.

THIS GAME IS SCARY.

I am about 5 hours into the game, and I have to say, the atmosphere, the tension, and the sheer pace of the game all equates to one of the most feverish games ever made.  I'm running for my life all over this town in Spain with demented villagers chasing me all over the place, with the President's very hot daughter in tow.

I can tell you one thing that I swear I will never do anymore, and that is shoot a villager in the head at night.  I don't want to really spoil anything for anyone, but let's just say that a shotgun to the face isn't always the best cure for zombie-itis.

If you have a gamecube, you MUST pick this game up.  The sheer violence and fun packed into this game is a sadist's wet dream.  The animations on the villagers are seemingly innumerable, so no matter what combination of shots you make on them, they always will respond accordingly, and almost always with incredibly satisfying results.

If you don't have a gamecube, go buy one.  They're really cheap pre-owned now, I think you can find some for about $60 at EB, and maybe even $30 or so online on eBay.

Whatever you do though, give Resident Evil 4 a real good look, because it's an amazing game so far, and if I'm only 1/4th of the way through, as many reviews say that I am, I cannot wait to see what the next 15 hours of the game hold for me.

BreakmanX (AKA Matthew Nyquist) founded BreakmanX.com in 2001 after having small video game websites since around 1996. Things really took off in September of 2002 when he started The Game Show with Richie. BreakmanX.com quickly developed a tight knit community of gamers as the crew covered major industry events and interviewed top industry talent. Break later went to the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts to get his MFA in Film and TV Production. He worked in Hollywood for seven years with people like Fred Roos (The Godfather Trilogy, Star Wars) and Dane Davis (The Matrix). He's now gone full circle and returned to Kansas to write and direct a feature film (EyesOpenMovie.com), relaunch The Game Show (BreakmanX.com), and spend his day time hours as an tenured Associate Professor.
