Devil May Cry — The Movie
Gaga
Communications announced that they are bringing Devil May Cry
to Hollywood. Production is set to begin in 2005 with a budget
of $40 million. The story is supposed to reflect the first game,
with Dante and Trish. Capcom and Gaga are still looking for
cast and crew. Gaga seems to like game cinema as they also have
the movie rights to Onimusha and Namco’s Tekken.
Add these to the ever growing number of game related movies
coming out.

Lawsuit filed against Best Buy and Microsoft
Reuters reports, “A Los Angeles man has filed a proposed
class action lawsuit against Best Buy Inc. and Microsoft Corp.,
accusing them of scamming customers by charging them for online
services without their knowledge.”
Honestly, it looks like Best Buy clerks didn’t clearly tell
the consumer what they were getting into. Seems like the clerk
didn’t understand the promotion, or just didn’t want to explain
it to the ‘average Joe.’ I’d guess that both companies have
some share of the blame though.

***Updated – Forums are up and running on a temp server!***

Not
so much as a news post as it is an explanation post. You may
have noticed that the site has been going dreadfully slow lately.
So many people are downloading The
Game Show
that this site is using 100% of the server’s resources
^_^. This has also brought the forums down. Honestly, I couldn’t
be more proud of our current status, but at the same time it
is very bittersweet. The forums NEED to be up, the site NEEDS
to be able to run quickly, and things just need to run better.

I
am on this situation, and am working towards a solution. With
my interview with the Bungie programmer that is working on Halo2
coming up, I must act fast. I am working as fast as I possibly
can to get this problem resolved. I will be moving to a dedicated
server if this all works out the way I want it to.

One
way or another, this site will be up to 100% and running much
faster very soon. Oddly enough, The
Game Show
continues to download just fine and rather speedily.
So, continue downloading it! And continue to check out the
forums!
They go up and down because of the above reasons, but
will be back completely soon.
Thanks for helping me to outgrow
my current server, and I hope to bring you bigger and better
things with whatever lies in the future. Thanks for all your
patience.

Keep
in mind that this hasn’t been confirmed by anyone at the big N.
But, the facts do kind of give it some credibility. At any rate,
I thought you guys should know about it.

HAL
is working on a secret project. There is already a Kirby for GCN,
and one for GBA. The two main possibilites for this secret game
are a new Smash Bros, and a new Earthbound. It would surprise
me if they brought out another Smash Bros. on the Game Cube; especially
so soon. Unless they had Sonic Team characters in it… but that
is a different rumor.

The
Earthbound rumor simply makes more sense to me. Fans have been
clamoring for a new one for some time, and Miyamoto has even hinted
at it a few times. EGM reported in its rumor column that a new
Earthbound is in the works. Now, with HAL working on a secret
project, it seems likely. Oh well, here’s to hoping. I guess we’ll
have to wait until E3.

I
uploaded my review
of Metroid Fusion.

I
also worked on the Video Feature a bit today. This thing is taking
much longer than I expected. Thank you premiere, I always love
it when you crash right before I save so I lose an hour or two
of work. Really, its great. Anyway, it should be up soon. I’m
just going to keep working on it.

The
forum is still on its way. My webhosting company has to install
some database stuff, and they want to make sure they do it right.
So, whenever that happens, the grand forum appears.

This
review should be the first in a fairly steady stream of content.
I’m trying to work on this page more consistantly, and it seems
like its working well. The Radio Show is giving this page a little
more attention, and it is kind of embarrasing with no content.
Anyway, enjoy the review, and look for more on the way. Maybe,
*cough*, even from the other writers too.

Been
awhile since the last Radio Show, huh? Well, today the Game Show
shall make its triumphant return. Well, we’re going to be broadcasting,
anyway. I’m still on Christmas Break, so it will be broadcast
from Richie’s house. Once I get there tomorrow, I shall put a
link to the server, but I do not know the ip right now. Anyway,
showafied you shall be. We’re going to discuss the best of 2002,
and our expectations of 2003. Plus a few news bits.

ShadowmanX
has sent me his Now Playing items for the staff page, be sure
to stalk him at your leisure. He also is going to have his collection
and wishlist up on IGN by showtime.

I’ve
got some fairly large plans for this site. I have this vision
that I want to attain. A sort of complete gaming site, but one
that is more like a community. Its all going to start with this
forum I’m working on. Soon, the absolutely worthless one that
is linked to on the left will be replaced by one that is housed
here on BreakmanX.com. My server is working on installing the
proper databases, so that I can get my PHP on, forum style. This
period in BreakmanX.com is kind of like in those old movies where
they put their ears to the ground; they get up slowly and say,
“Something’s comin’.” Ok, so I’ve lost you. In case
you don’t like to read, here is a shortened version of this paragraph:
Stuff is going to happen.

Enjoyable Tranquility.

I own is one there. I also updated the list of titles I am currently
playing in the staff
page
.

The
first live show is finished, but you can listen to it HERE.

We had a pretty good turn out for the first show. Unfortunately
we had many technical difficulties, but we overcame them pretty
well. Richie’s mic stopped working 2 secs into the show. The listeners
that wrote to me all loved it, and we even had people call in
and ask questions and give comments. We learned a lot from this
one, and won’t have these problems in the future.

***UPDATED***
To listen to the show click HERE.
It will be reruns until 1:00 where we will interrupt and start
live. To do call ins: msg me on Yahoo
Messenger
, (My nickname is BreakmanX) I will add you to a
voice chat to do a call in. Immediately leave when you’re done
asking the question, thank you. Otherwise msg me on ICQ, MSN,
or AIM to ask a text question. (ICQ: 14009569, MSN: breakmanx@hotmail.com,
AIM: BreakmanX4) We may be running a few tests prior to show time,
so be patient until 1:00. Or you can E-Mail
me questions.

To listen to the live show (on Saturday November 9th, 2003 @ 1:00
P.M. Central Standard time, -06:00 GMT) page for a direct link
to the stream. Live callins will prolly be done via Roger
Wilco
. Information regarding the exacts will be told tomorrow

Game Show Uploaded. Click Here.

I uploaded the Contra footage I had talked about
in the Radio show on the first
impressions page.

A
post from ShadowmanX. And yes, he’s still alive.

“Long
time no hear from me huh everybody. Well a lot has changed since
those days. Whatever crap was mentioned about Everquest or Luclin
and whatever delusional fantasies were described you can just
quietly erase those from your conscious. Right now been a little
busy with some Kingdom Hearts action and a little Vice City. My
internet to my computer has been down so pc gaming has been at
a low recently. I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of Galaxies
for I feel it will give me a new life online to replace the urges
I still have from the ever crack. I will also be participating
in the radio show sometime soon probably and I will have some
reviews up soon for some recently played games. I’m out.

Is
Gamecube Nintendo’s last console?
source:
http://cube.ign.com

Nintendo
has finally, officially, spoken out on the subject.
The answer? NO!!! Nintendo is regrouping, and I think
they are primed to kick some ass. Some cool things they
mentioned:
“Nintendo is most certainly in the home console
business — to stay.”
“Significant change for us: the aggressive targeting
of the teen and 20-something market.”
“You will soon see exclusive Final Fantasy games
again playing on Nintendo systems.”
Sega, Namco, and Capcom are also targeted into becoming
major partnerships.

For more information on the conference check cube.ign.com.

Square
games on XBOX?
source:
ps2.ign.com

Now that I have your attention.. ahem. According to
ps2.ign.com‘s
article on the recent Square Meeting 2002, where Square
outlined their plans for 2003, Square and Xbox “didn’t
happen.” This seemingly destroys, at least temporarily,
the possibility of Final Fantasy XI on Xbox, and definately
the rumor about a possible Microsoft buy out of Square.
Click the link to ps2.ign.com
for a Japanese release list and more info from the Square
meeting.

BreakmanX (AKA Matthew Nyquist) founded BreakmanX.com in 2001 after having small video game websites since around 1996. Things really took off in September of 2002 when he started The Game Show with Richie. BreakmanX.com quickly developed a tight knit community of gamers as the crew covered major industry events and interviewed top industry talent. Break later went to the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts to get his MFA in Film and TV Production. He worked in Hollywood for seven years with people like Fred Roos (The Godfather Trilogy, Star Wars) and Dane Davis (The Matrix). He's now gone full circle and returned to Kansas to write and direct a feature film (EyesOpenMovie.com), relaunch The Game Show (BreakmanX.com), and spend his day time hours as an tenured Associate Professor.
