I used to get so much more excited about games...
What changed?
Are video games less exciting now?
Am I jaded?
A little 'O both?
I mean, MGS4 is out, and still I'm really in no hurry to buy a PS3. Two or three years ago I'd have taken an extra job just to buy a PS3 so I could play the newest MGS.

I still get excited...you'll think this is silly, but I stoked about "Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts" LOL
I think as more and more games become hyped up and then suck, people tend to less excited.

I think it is because games have changed so much, honestly. The excitement would still be there if the games were still in the same style.

I know that when I saw the new trailer for Sonic Unleashed, I got as excited for it as I did for Sonic Adventure 2.
They're rare, but they're there.

I'd get excited about :
A new Suikoden
A new Fumito Ueda game
...
That's all I can think of.

I think everything gets a little less exciting as you get older because for one thing you become more discerning in your tastes and personal likes and dislikes... I mean really, when you're five years old you get excited far more easily than you do when you're fifteen, and so on.
Plus, because the gaming market is saturated with a great deal of stuff that is mostly the same, it's easy to lose interest in a lot of what is on offer. Typically you will be more excited by things that you already know and enjoy coming out with something new and hopefully as good as what went before, or something brand new that is so dazzling and innovative as to demand attention.
Personally I think there are a lot of games on the market that just aren't much fun to play.

So, back in the days of NES and stuff, how different were all of the scrolling games?
I mean, you had side-scrollers...vertical scrollers...
Some of em had guns you shoot, some of em had you jumping on heads.
Were NES/SNES/Genesis games REALLY that damned varying?

Side-scrolling platformers were the FPSes of their day. So while there were a lot of them, there were still a lot of non-side-scrolling platformers as well. Look at all the amazing RPGs that came out of that time.

The SNES had a plethora of different games to choose from. It's pretty much Nintendo's bread and butter. What I would do for Nintendo to go back to their roots.

Eh...I like Nintendo where they are now. Aside from the whoring out to publishing extremely shitty knock-off 3rd party games meant to cash in on the Wii...that I could do without.
