Heavy Rain ?

Post by WiizerFanboy »

I haven't seen this before. Developed by Quantic Dream. Still trying to figure out what you do in this game, and what the story is, but it looks interesting.

E32k6 Tech Demo:

It looks to be very very story driven so far. Kinda Noir'ish. I hear that Quantic Dream is known for story driven games like this.

Quantic Dream made Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy. So yeah, they're known for story driven games.

I looked up Indigo Prophecy. I've never heard/played it before, I should probally check that out. It's gotten some positive feedback.

It's pretty good. Very unique and immersive. The story gets a little odd though.

Only thing really annoying about it is all the QTEs. Otherwise it's brilliant.

I even liked those. Reminded me of Shenmue.

It's just the story for me, too contrived.

The ones that really got old fast were rapidly tapping L and R triggers in succession for extended periods of time... I distinctly remember my fingers bleeding from that experience.

Or more like good stories with rushed endings.

Well I don't recall my fingers ever bleeding...although I wanted them to just so the rapid movements would cause the liquid to cool over them and soothe the pain away...But Indigo Prophecy was amazing. Never finished it because of one of the QTE's described by Vamp.

Was it the one where you're like running on a wall and if you do the QTE even slightly less than the maximum tolerable by man you fall? That one hooked me up for about a week.

Oh yeah...I'm really pissed off...I gave up on it...Because I only get 2 tries on it since I only have 3 lives and one of them always gets wasted when you get thrown into that billboard (which I ALWAYS fail because you have a very small window to do that one in).

Indigo Prophecy = very interesting, and worth a playthrough if you still haven't tried it. First level alone is something I've never had to try to do in a game before. Timed, you've got two minutes to hide a body and clean the crime scene before the cops come in to check out what all the noise was...

Actually I believe the cop was going into the bathroom because he needed to use it as opposed to checking out the noise.

But yes, the first level brings up so many questions so soon in the game it's quite amazing. I've always been a fan of the game and the storyline (save the...rushed endings...they had a good twist near the end, but then they kinda blew it right after that...I still don't know the entire story though, cause I never finished, so who am I to judge? I just know it's already been mutilated up to the point I'm at now...

And with my brother's addiction to WoW...I doubt I'll EVER get to try to finish the game again...Seems I've met many restrictions due to his addiction and lack of a job...

But anyway, there's no way to talk about Indigo Prophecy and sum up all the shit that happens. It's pretty fucking crazy and it's a really cinematic game. The graphics are roughly GTA quality, which feels kinda odd when you think of how cinematic it is, but it really does work with the game well. The only time I even think about the graphical qualities in the game are when they zoom in on someone's face too much and you can see they're eyelids are half an inch thick...

But let's move back to discussing Heavy Rain...

It looks very promising and I intend to play the game. I'm very determined to play the frickin' game.
