I thought that this was just a misunderstanding on SquareEnix's part, but then i found.

But really, wasn't it obvious? Look at those effiminate features in Advent Children. They just scream out 'Evil!!... but gay!"

Hell, according to the internet, every character in pop media is gay. There are homosexual fanfics and pictures everywhere...

SOmetimes they are a little more spot on though... I'm pretty sure Naruto is a parable for Naruto trying to 'save' Sasuke from the 'perils' of homosexuality. Seriously.

A lot of the darker bad guy type characters in games, anime, and manga are on the more erm... beautiful side. And even where they aren't blatantly less than 100% heterosexual, women in Japan (and now the world over thanks to the net) will like to imagine they are. Look at all the doujinshi with a yaoi or shōnen-ai theme - it's extremely popular

And I just watched Advent Children over the weekend, and I have to say there are many choice examples right there.
