Review for Digimon: Savers

Post by Typheus »

Ok, I can only go so far with this, because it hasn't been dubbed yet, so I don't get the joy out of making fun of Funimation, but..oh well.

I would have to say the story was very similar to the others, except a few changes, such as the people who know about the Digimon in this one are an organization that don't want to totally wipe them out, but they have the wrong ideas about things, you understand. Though it, in my opinion, is MUCH better than Season 4 was, and I'm sure some of you who actually watch the series will be glad to hear that. Though, we'll have to wait awhile to see if it was as good as the others. It seems that they redid many of the Digimon designs. They didn't scrap the old ones, but they amped them up quite a bit.

The violence in this one...eh so-so. Since this has only been the first episode, I can't tell where it will eventually lead, but I know that the humans actually fight with their fists in this one. One portion of this first episode reminded me of Shadow of the Colossus to a GREAT extent, and when you see it you'll know exactly what I mean. Apparently, even rookie level digimon in this one are much stronger than humans, when in the previous ones, it seemed as if the humans could take one on somewhat easily.

The hero shares similar emotions toward his digimon, Agumon, as the others did in previous seasons, and also seems to have a negative view towards the organization involved with keeping the digimon under control. He also really loves to fight for some reason, which ties in with the fact that he seems to be the only human so far that can knock down a champion-level digimon with one punch (Goku's long lost son?).

Overall, I have high hopes for this particular series, and I believe the the subbed version, at least, will look very good. Though, once Funimation gets its hands on it (I get to talk bad about them anyways!), I'm sure they will find some way to royally screw it all up. I really have no true complaints about this season so far. I will probably update this review depending upon what I see in the next episode, which is being subbed by With the Will, a fansubbing group. The next episode will be out...sometime...yeah I'm not positive, even I make mistakes.

If you're a fan of Digimon, then this is most likely something you want to keep track of whether it be fansubs or episodes dubbed by *shudder* Funimation.

This is Typheus, signing off.
