I'm posting this in preperation for Naruto's one hour premiere tonight at 9:00 PM EST. I'll edit this post at that time to include my opinions... I expect we'll all have a lot to say about this.

EPISODE 1

First thing's first: I don't think I like Naruto's voice very much. Eventually it might grow no me... but right now, no. However, the rest of the characters sound alright. I particularly like their choices for Ino, Hinata, and Sasuke. I hate Naruto's laugh with a passion.

Secondly: What the fuck was up with the nose blood editing? It's... nose blood. I had nothing to do with battle wounds. I can tell a lot of shit is going to be going just from this. The series get's bloodier as it goes along as well. I dread to see what they did/will do with the Chunin Exam episodes or the battles involving Gaara of the Sand.

I will commend them for trying to match the English voices with the original Japanese. I'll give VIZ a point for that and another point for pronouncing all the names correctly, and finally another point for a good translation... though I do disagree with "Village Hidden in the Leaves" -- I think the literal translation of "Village of Hidden Leaf" works better.

I don't even mind Adult Swim's opening or ending themes. They're actually kind of cool... Though, of course, I totally prefer the original first opening and ending.

Oh and for future reference, there was no editing for the "Sexy-jutsu". It always has clouds around the... ahem... most important parts.

EPISODE 2

Again, what's up with the nose bleed edits?

Yay! Konohamaru! Yay!! Ha, ha, ha. He doesn't appear that often, but he's always a fun one in the future episodes. Yay for the Sexy-jutsu, too! Mwa, ha, ha, ha! It's been TOO long since I've seen the Sexy-jutsu or the female Naruto... Brings back memories. I started watching this series three years ago when it first started, after all.

Actually, It'll be Naruto's third year anniversary next month and celebrate over 150 episodes so far! This series is so kick ass... I am a Narutard: A dedicated fan of the series. I'm sure you're going to be one to.

Also, I noticed they pronounced "Genin" wrong. They say "gay-neen". It's supposed to be "geh-nin". Strike 1/2 a point from VIZ.

Go, Harem-jutsu!! Bwa, ha, ha, ha!!

EDIT: Naruto and Konohamaru walk into the public bath house when they tranformed into females.

I will admit that this series has a good range voice talent and the dub isn't horrible at all. I expected it to totally suck, but they've sincerely surprised me: As a dedicated fan of Naruto, I look forward to the dub through and through.

As for the first episode...I didnt think it changed from the original all that much. There were a couple of scenes with deleted blood. Most notably the Seduction Jitsu thing...LMAO. I didnt think the voices were bad. Of course im not a voice expert

EDIT: And yeah what Zephie said about the Sexy Jitsu. There were clouds in the original.

Overall I thought it was pretty good. Ill write more about the second episode when its over.

Ok now for the second.

Eh seems normal so far...nose bleed was deleted again...I dont see why. Seems to be the same....

lol whats with them deleting the nose bleeds? That stuff is funny as hell. I mean what it looked like was hise nose bled so bad that it rocketted him into the sky. Man you gotta love that.

Well that was fun.

I guess I better watch two subs again before next Saturday. Hopefully I can keep up with Zephie on this in determining how much Toonami will screw it up even though the first two episodes were ok in my book.

Oh yeah Zephie one more thing. When I watch these on my comp it's all dark and stuff. I couldn't make out the legs of that toad thing the Fourth was riding on. Is there an easy way to change this without adjusting the brightness of my monitor? Like a brightness and contrast adjuster in Windows Media or Winamp or somethin?

I'm relieved.

After what they did to One Piece, the Naruto edits are comparatively light. The voices are all acceptable from what I've seen (except for Naruto himself, lamentably). Pretty much all of the blood was edited out, as has been mentioned, but at least we get to see Iruka hit with kunai and Mizuki's giant shuriken.

I thought they pronounced Genin correctly the only instance I remember hearing it. Who said it incorrectly?

Props for "Sexy Jutsu" as well. The name in addition to the visuals. The american anime version actually just drops the "No" from the original Japanese "Sexy no jutsu", whereas Shonen Jump translated it as "Ninja centerfold". I prefer the original.

I now look forward to future episodes with cautious optimism.

Naruto-Chan im SOOOOO glad you gave me those torrents...otherwise I would be forced to watch a crappy version of Naruto.

His voice is wearing on me but it still doesnt fit the bill very well.

I was lmao when they cut out the kissing part. I was also laughing at alot of the stuff they cut out.

Ah...just emagine what 4 Kids wouldve done to it :/

I KNOW! They leave in half-naked ninja girls but feel they can't actually SHOW that kiss, even though they make it clear exactly what happened.

I'm dreading the huge mass of edits that will be Zabuza's demise episode.

Yeah, I knew before I even saw that episode that the kiss would be cut out. It was a really saucy kiss too! Ha, ha. Yeah, these edits are really light compared to a lot of shows I've seen appear on Toonami.

It's also weird seeing all of them where they are now again... I've watched Naruto from episode one since the fansubs, so it's been about three years for me since I've seen the first episodes. I'm all use to Naruto and Sasuke being bad asses, but now I'm seeing them all in school -- a very strange feeling, indeed.

I can't wait to see what they do next. But I have to admit, I'm loving all of the voice choices. I can't wait until I hear the voice they've chosen for Itachi, Gaara of the Sand (now THERE are some severe edits), and especially Jiraiya and Tsunade-sama.

There really wasn't much to edit out in this episode at all from what I remember. It's mostly just fun in games. I've come to the conclusion though, that I like Iruka's voice the least out of them all.

I think it was called "1000 Years of Pain", not death. But Typheus would be able to answer that better than I. I think pain would be better, however, considering the type of "attack".

I also noticed that Naruto's hair is totally different later in the series.

Yes. It was indeed 1000 years of pain. The only edit out I noticed was the blood when Iruka got hit with the shurikens.

Well that episode wasn't so bad. I notice very little changes aside from the lack of blood. Im still trying to figure out whether or not there is some kind of policy against blood in cartoons, because its buggin me how they can leave naked women in but every bit of blood is deleted.

I cant wait until it gets to these really bloody parts you keep talking about Zephie. I cant wait to see if they are gonna be able to stick with their current level of censorship XD

I was watching that episode almost solely to see how much of the hand stabbing they editted out.

I guess that was a good episode. Its hard for me to review these well since I watch the uncut version the day before

O well...sad how Naruto couldn't defend himself isn't it?

Heh, yeah, I thought the hand-stabbing would be left in, but no such luck.

I'm waiting for the ep with Zabuza's most violent bits in it. If they edit it too much it'll be impossible to figure out what happened (if you haven't seen the uncut anime or manga).

lol Naruto and his team are turning into little badasses. I loved that little Shadow Shuriken trick. I guess alot of deception goes into Ninjas

Almost everything they do in that show has to do with stealth.

Wow I thought Naruto was gonna go into some speech of how its wrong to kill those who are trying to kill you. Thank GOD he didnt...this was when it looked like he was getting mad at the girl...THAT IS A GIRL RIGHT!??!!?!?!?

Anyways I better catch up on my subbed episodes. Im 3 episodes behind on that.

You know...im guessing that girl is either from the same clan as that cool guy or shes a fox...or maybe some kind of shadow creature hell I dunno.

Yes. That is a girl. Just a near breastless one.

We really haven't gotten to all the particularly bloody stuff yet. I'm waiting for the next three or four episodes to determine just how bad the editing is going to be. I look forward to really finding out.
