How was the Star Trek trailer before the movie?

I wasn't saying that I WANT Watchmen to suck, I was just saying that it will inevitably do so (compared to the book).

Now here's a Watchmen adaptation I can fully support.

I cringe-lol'd.

I did enjoy the movie quite a bit. I haven't read the entire graphic novel, although a friend did let me flip through a bit of his copy once. I'd have to say the graphic novel is obviously better, although as a stand-alone movie, Watchmen is impressive.

People shouldn't have really worried about the movie sucking too much. Most of the actors did an amazing job, and the action sequences were pretty amazing. They timed a lot of slow-mo's just perfectly in the movie.

I do wanna finish reading the graphic novel after seeing the movie, though. Most of the actors were pretty good at playing their roles. Veidt seemed a little...flat to me though. :S
Fun fact, Rorschach's actor is a real-life black belt.

I thought the film was really well done. I'm going to have to re-read the graphic novel to do a better mental comparison but I think it was a pretty good adaptation, certainly I don't think it would make anyone cringe. I think it will encourage people to pick up the graphic novel - especially since it is prominently on display in most book stores at the moment.

I found it difficult to care about any of the characters except for Rorschach who, despite having his face covered for the majority of the film, was the most human and emotionally interesting person in the film. Perhaps it was because he was the only person who didn't feel like he had given up on life.

My personal opinion: one of the best movies I've ever seen. Then again, I haven't read the book, but will do so soon. From what I understand, though, the ending to the movie actually makes more sense than the ending of the book. SPOILER ALERT: Giant squid WTF???

Here's my rundown.

The Dark Knight > Watchmen > Batman Begins, Spiderman 2

That should give a pretty good indication of where I think it lies.

Not surprising, as you do tend to love the stuff that everyone else hates.

I really liked it as well. I did have a few issues. These are all opinions and not facts.

I think they should have been LESS true to the comic book and adapted the story into something that flowed better on film. Was too long, and many of the stories broke up the pacing. The comic book is perfect, but these are two different mediums. It also is confusing to the audience who's story it is. I think it should have been Rorschach's story and that pretty much everything should be told from his perspective. In comic books we are used to jumping around, but in film it just breaks up the flow.

That said, AMAZING job for all involved. The amount of detail that went into the production design was just astounding. This is definitely worth a viewing for everyone.

That's a good thought. The entire movie from Rorschach's perspective would've focused things, certainly. I don't know if that would've made me actually like the movie, but it probably would've helped.

I wouldn't complain if it was all from Rorschach's perspective. Probably would've motivated me to read the graphic novel even more than the movie already did.

Although I really don't like the fact of Manhattan *SPOILER! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK BY GOD!* becoming a scapegoat to make everyone become peaceful, because...come on...really? He was being used as the reason that the Russians wouldn't attack the United States. When he attacks the U.S., granted in addition to other cities around the world, their fears of the U.S. become rather null...and if Veidt doesn't continually kill people using the same method over and over again, then the peace would really only last a few years. It just doesn't flow properly. But I did hear the graphic novel uses a squid instead of Manhattan, which eh...that's a bit...odd too. *END SPOILERS...FOR NOW*
