The Watchmen
The Watchmen
Anyone seen this trailer yet? If so, what do you expect?
I think it looks like crap to be honest.

Re: The Watchmen
I don't know yet, I just don't know.
Dr. Manhattan looks kinda' cool. The Comedian looks good. Nite and Laurie don't look that good though. Nite isn't portly and roman-nosed enough, and Laurie's costume looks all wrong.
Ozzy doesn't look the part either.
Rorschach... I dunno. I'll have to see more. At least the actor portraying him isn't a pretty-boy.
Most of the problem I have so far is just casting or costuming. The acting and screenplay will be the meat of the movie. And that has yet to be seen.

I think it looks great, but I know most people won't care for it.
Re: The Watchmen
Weez has already stated that he refuses to see it, on the grounds that the creator of the comic does not approve the movie. I respect that.
I might see it in theaters, or I might legally obtain it. It depends of my mood, I suppose.

Go with the latter.
Re: The Watchmen
I suspect I'll spend the whole movie shaking my head, saying "Rorshach would never say THAT!" Etc.
Re: The Watchmen
i was initially excited, when i saw the DC logo....but when i didn't see the JLA, I tuned out the rest of the trailer.
Re: The Watchmen
I don't know about you guys, but I thought it looked amazing. On the other hand, I've never read it, nor do I know anything about it... I wouldn't know Dr. Manhattan from Ozzy. I'm kinda liking it that way, though; I'll go see the movie, then go back and read it.
This is interesting, though.

Re: The Watchmen
I thought the trailer looked absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to see it. I love the look they went for with the film. I will wait till I actually see it to give my impressions, though. I think I'm going to see it like 10 times to make up for the boycotters, lol.
In all seriousness, I respect Weezerjedi's opinion but fully disagree with him. Film is a different experience than a comic book. You want to bring over what people love about the original, but also can't hope for an absolute perfect translation because then you'll always be disappointed.

Re: The Watchmen
The one line you hear from Rorschach is STRAIGHT out of the beginning of the novel.
Should be fucking epic.

Re: The Watchmen
I've never even heard of the series before - I saw the trailer and said "that looks fucking cool!" Just my impression.
I have spoken.

Weeeeell...Richie wrote:The one line you hear from Rorschach is STRAIGHT out of the beginning of the novel.
Movie: "The world will look up and shout "Save us" and I'll whisper "No""
Comic: "The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' And I'll look down, and whisper 'no.'"
I can already tell I'll be unable to enjoy the movie, cause I'm that nitpicky.
Re: The Watchmen
Maybe the line is correct in the full movie? Or maybe who gives a fuck?
