Actually, we will have a lot more reviews and written content coming soon for the ... Oh no, I've said too much.

How soon? Lets just say sooner than you think.

Web_22 wrote:In regards to gamespot reviews, I always give the game an extra .5 to 1.0 because they're pretty hard on games. Even really good games escape with high 8's or low 9's. One good thing about gamespot is that they're usually pretty good about pointing out the bad, as well as the good. Some only focus on the good. I tell you, EGM's review of ESPN NFL was just plain wrong. They didn't even try to like the game and based the review off of 1st person football instead of the straight up sim. One reviewer gave it a 7.0 or 7.5 if I'm not mistaken. There's no way ESPN NFL should ever rate that low!

As for PoP, I can't wait to pick it up this week and take it for a spin.
Gamespot didn't like the PLOT for SKIES OF ARCADIA. They can go to hell.

Yeah, that's pretty stupid. The plot kicked serious 4$$.

The xbox has better lighting, textures, character models, sound, and control scheme.

<sarcasm>So yeah, I think I should get the GC version too. </sarcasm>

Jack, have you played PoP1 on Xbox. I did and I was far from impressed. I am not a fan of PoP1 but it seemed the controls were really mangled. There is about a 1/2 second latency on control input and its sluggish as **** all the time.

The game PoP is a blast but the unlockable aint worth a damm IMO. What do you guys think? I know there are some PoP1 fans out there who know how its supposed to play so I was wondering. I have a MAME/NES version of PoP1 and although its not great it seems much better than the Xbox version.

According to the Xbox FAQ on gamefaqs, both POP1, POP2 and POP3D are unlockable in the Xbox version. Unfortunatly, the PC version (which is probably the best game I've played all year) has no unlockable content, atleast none that I found.

Also, I will add that I havent played any console versions of this game, but the PC version plays excellently with the Keyboard + mouse combo - no need to get a gamepad for it. Also 'mouse look' is sexcellent, especially for going into First Person mode and looking at Farah... Mmmm...

I will also say that the game plays well on even a moderatly low-end system. Due to a motherboard failure Im trapped using a temperary PC with only a 1ghz CPU, pc100 ram, and a geforce 3 ti200 - thats similar specs to an Xbox guys, but the game played wonderfully with all the special effects turned to Maximum and 4x AA at 800x600 resolution. So if you're worried that you system can't handle it, dont fret.

So if you're still deciding which system to get this game for, I suggest you try alt.binaries.jks, or alternativly purchase the PC version. If you are still deciding which version based on the unlockable version of the old games, they are probably abandonware anyway, and you should be able to snag them online for free.

EDIT: Depending on how Deus Ex 2 (Dec 2 release date) shapes up, I've got my vote on Sands of time for Game of the Year. I'd even go as far as saying it has the Best game mechanics ever - that ability to rewind 8 seconds of play when you fuck up is priceless, and I know that future games I play will feel akward because I can't do that.

I couldn't get into PoP1 either. But there are other older games that I thought were great back then that just don't hold up anymore. Some age well, some don't. I could get used to that lag, kind of like the original tomb raiders in regards to running and jumping. The game was simply awesome tho. Great graphics, architecture, story, characters. I would have liked to have some boss fights or something, or some newer enemies. I never bothered to use the haste or slow motion. The puzzles got me here and there, but the climbing was never too hard, because all the spots you needed to go where all right there. Sure, I did have a few trial and error jumps, but otherwise, nothing too frustrating. Okay, when I couldn't rewind, that part got a little frustrating. I've said enough. Loved this game, I have no beef!

Prince of Persia.. more like Prince of Awesome

I agree with this, the levels were set out so elegantly that you almost always new where you have to go and what to do.. And the difficulty was always right.. It is a thing of beauty!

On a side note though, who the hell designed this palace and what the hell were they thinking? The only way to access the kings chambers is to go throught the harem via the great library via the zoo and have to swing on a series of bars after wall running accross a series of spike traps and jumping to a ladder? WTF? What if I need to get up during the middle of the night to go to the bathroom? I dont want to have to run up the wall backflip to a balance beam, jump of that to a swinging rope suspended over a bottomless pit, climb the rope, wall jump up a chimmeny just to take a wiz - its insane. I guess they just do things differently in Persia?

You know, I thought the exact same thing!!! LOL! And what was up with the shoddy masonry? The ledges would crackle and fall before you even touched them. Great game, Greeeaaaat game!!!

Good things come to those who wait: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/princ ... 86037.html

I still haven't bought PoP, and although I've played Splinter Cell, I never bought it. Looks like everything will work out alright.

you can see touches of Splinter Cell all over PoP, in the lighting, the way fabric moves. I'd sit and stare at the backgrounds because they were so hot.
