Prince of Persia, very nice.....

Post by Web_22 »

Man, this months demo disc in the latest OXM has the sweet demo of Prince of Persia. Man, this game looks very nice, plays pretty cool, I'm looking forward to a complete version of this game. Haven't really tried anything else, but Freedom Fighters is supposed to be pretty fun too.

Freedom Fighters is alright, but that one military game that's featured on the video footage where you command two squads? It looks just sick! The graphics are some of the most photorealistic graphics I've seen, it looks pretty cool.

Yeah man...I hear ya....Freedom Fighters is awesome....but rent it. It's way too short to warrant a purchase...I beat it in about 10 hours, and there's little to no replay value.

And that other game you're talking about is more than likely Full Spectrum Warrior. And from everything that I've seen and heard about the game, this thing is gonna pwn everyone. It looks so realistic, and the AI is supposedly incredibly realistic as well...the gameplay looks about spot-on as well, so I really cannot wait for this game...although it looks to be coming out summer 2004. :(

Yeah, I think I saw that too. 2004, what a bummer. The game looks phenomenal. I like that Xbox is finally starting to show signs of delivering all that was promised back in 2001. Right now, it's my system of choice, that is, until I get Viewtiful Joe later this week.

Better than Zelda!? Yes, well if you're serious about that, then I'm definately going to have to see some video on this. I mean I used to play the original Prince of Persia on my old Mac. It was absolutely great and I loved it. I've even played one of the 3D sequels which I didn't think were as good. So...better than Zelda huh? Until I play it myself, I will be very sceptical.

I can't compare it to Zelda seeing as, for reasons unknown, I skipped over all Zelda's after the first one. I can say the PoP is not only one of the best looking games I've ever seen EVER, not only does it have flawless animation, but the gameplay is just amazing. That's what I got from a demo. It just looks so challenging, yet fun at the same time. Remember that feeling you got when you played tomb raider for the first time, and she had all these moves at her disposal for tackling challenges, well it's like that, only updated big time. This is an adventure and a half I'm looking at, I cannot wait to get my hands on the full version!

I could see being skeptical about it being better than Zelda, but to be skeptical about the amazing quality of the game would be........let's just say, you will like this game, a lot!!!

Alright, I got a demo disk of Price Of Persia: Sands Of Time and I finally got to play it. I must say, it looks to be a great game. The way the character makes huge long jumps reminds me alot of the original Prince Of Persia. All the new moves that the character can do are great too. Running on the side of a wall is alot of fun. But I have a big problem with the camera. You have no control over the camera besides zooming out to view the entire level. Also, I did not feel that this game was better than Zelda because I think they are very different types of games. I see Prince Of Persia as more of a Tomb Raider style game rather than Zelda. But anyways, I think I will be probably picking this one up when it comes out.

I thought you just moved the camera with one of the analog sticks? That's what I did, although it does fail a little in the corners. Hopefully that problem is fixed by release time.

The better than Zelda comment was mainly just to show you guys how strongly I felt about this game. You guys are absolutely right, though, different types of games. PoP is definately on my buy list. I still love my Zelda, though, and I don't think anything will surpass that.

I just checked the IGN review, 9.6, WHEW!!! This game looks like it's set to blow up. ONly fitting that it's from the Splinter Cell studio.

I've also read that the Xbox version is the only one with actual fingers on the prince. The framerate is more steady as well. As if there was any doubt which system I was going to get it on.

The Gamecube version has the entire original Prince of Persia unlockable and you can also use the GBA/GC connectivity to help you out in the game. I think it also has one of the original levels remade using the new game engine. The X-Box version only has the original Prince of Persia 2 unlockable. Does it really matter if the character has fingers or not. If you have a Gamecube, why not give Nintendo some 3rd party help and purchase the Gamecube version? With the extra goodies, I think the Gamecube version is superior, but I haven't tried it out yet, so, I'm not sure.

The GC version does have PoP1, but...

The xbox has better lighting, textures, character models, sound, and control scheme.

<sarcasm>So yeah, I think I should get the GC version too. </sarcasm>

I did not know that the X-Box version had better graphics. I know that my opinions around here aren't popular, but, you don't need to tease me. Essentialy, all versions of the game are the same game. 3rd party doesn't sell well on Gamecube, and since I'm a Nintendo freak, I'm just saying, hey, why not get the Gamecube version? Are better graphics really that important? Is the difference so noticeable that the Gamecube version becomes unplayable? I'd say, maybe if the X-Box version had Live support, it'd probably be superior, but does it? This situation can be compared to Soul Calibur II. X-Box version had the best graphics, but the Gamecube version had arguably the best special character. I have only played a demo of Price of Persia on the PS2, so I haven't witnessed all the differences first hand.
