What anime / manga are you into right now?
Re: What anime / manga are you into right now?
My point is that those are two of the best animated programs ever created.

And how much of either show have you actually watched?

I hated Avatar and I'm always on Adult Swim when it's on.

The Venture Brothers is pretty funny. It seems to be build on a parody of early boy wonder hanna barbara cartoons of the 60's and 70's. Avatar is decent. I didn't know it was American though, they must have been heavily influenced by anime.

Well I haven't seen much of Avatar, mostly because I was put off by the animation, but I have ran into it quite a bit on nickelodeon. But I pretty much see Venture Brothers every time I turn on Adult swim. As a matter of fact at the time of this post it's airing right now. I'm not saying the show sucks. it's ok, but "best animated program ever made" ? Nah. At least I don't think so.
Re: What anime / manga are you into right now?
I sounds to me like you haven't actually given either show enough of a chance to make an informed judgement.
And I said that they are "two of the best animated programs ever created". Not THE best. They'd easily be part of, say, my "Top 50" list.

Hmm, well there are lots of different styles of animation and appreciating one style doesn't preclude you from liking others. Not everything produced in Japan is automatically amazing, and stuff produced elsewhere is not necessarily any less worthwhile to watch. Personal preference is simply that.
On the broader subject of animation, I was recently thinking of a french / hungarian animated film that I saw a long time ago and really loved, Les Maîtres du temps, or Time Masters. I originally saw the dubbed version but have since seen the subtitled version and thought it was interesting and very well done in terms of the story and I liked the animation style too. I think this was probably the second animated film I saw after Akira (other than Disney films) and is one that I would recommend.

Not to say I dislike Avatar because it's american made. I mean I liked Teen Titans. I just didn't like the animation in Avatar for some reason.

Not as yet, but I've heard that it's really good.Rift wrote:French animation is really great. Have you seen Fantastic Planet?
Currently I'm watching Lamune and Nabari no Ou.

You failed to mention "Detective Conan", "Samurai Champloo", "Death Note", "Last Exile", "Blue submarine no. 6"Akiras wrote:Discordia wrote:Hmm, well there are lots of different styles of animation and appreciating one style doesn't preclude you from liking others.
