Colin Meloy (Decemberists).

Post by Verence »

I've been getting more and more into his music lately. And as I've been trying my hand at songwriting recently, he's been one of my biggest musical role models.

Anyone else a fan? :D

Some samples: (Is there any way to embed here?)

First one sounds like REM to me.

Doesn't really turn me on, though. :?

Hust got back from Colin's show in Lawrence.

I know there aren't many fans of his here, but it was the most fun I've ever had at a show/concert.

Colin Meloy is good at singing and playing guitar, but he is an absolute master of playing the audience. Leading us in swaying, stomping, clapping, singing, and quailing (though we got it wrong the first time, and had to re-do it), Colin really made the audience feel like a part of the show.

My legs hurt from stomping, my hands are numb from clapping, and my voice hoarse from singing and shouting. :)
