I was supposed to go testify for the defense that the games stolen by the defendant, who admitted his guilt in the part of the theft, were not worth the $49.99 each that the prosecution claimed, a claim that would raise the stakes from Petty to Grand theft. The titles in question? I series of old sports games.
I'm informed today that the Defense doesn't need me now. Once the prosecution got word that the D had a 'game expert' to testify, they went ahead and reduced the charges.
