Eat that, people who don’t believe in God. This morning we got an email from the folks at Bethesda confirming that “Prey 2” will come out after all, but has been delayed into 2013 at least. Here’s the email:
“Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.”
So yeah, it sucks to keep waiting on “Prey 2,” but on the other hand, at least it’s still coming. I like to think we had a hand in averting this disaster, so nice job, everyone.

It sucks that it won’t be out sooner rather than later, but more polishing is never a bad thing!
Yeah, I’m surprised how candid they’re being about it not meeting QT standards. They must have really had some issues. But I agree, as long as hope survives it’s a good thing!
“QA issues” seems incredibly suspicious considering how well they “QA’d” Skyrim. It was full of bugs but now Prey 2 is being delayed because of it? Hmmm…
