Don’t have many pics to show you today, since most of our time was sewn up in meetings and interviews, which we’ll make available once we’re back in native Kansas.  We’d do it now, except the hotel bandwidth is, as usual, being raped by all the other journalists staying here.  Even getting these 17K jaypegs to the FTP server is harder than pulling a porcupine out of its hole backwards.

When we did get out onto the floor, we used it wisely.  The highlight was the Spore display, ran personally by Will Wright.  And you thought you’d seen the good stuff before?  You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.  God, that’s an amazing game.

Oh, and the Scarface booth, which a certain reader I know cares about.  His name starts with ‘A’ and ends with a ‘tticus’.  Take a guess.

But just because we didn’t get pics of our meetings, doesn’t mean they
wern’t worthwhile.  First up was Mike Breslin, VP of Marketing and PG
for I-Play, which deals in cellular phone games.  You might dismiss
phone games and anyone associated on principal alone, but Mike was
easily one of the coolest guys we talked with all day.  The man had a
full schedule of meetings, commuting between South and West Halls, yet
he still stood tall for our camera and gave us a great interview.

Next
was stermy and fojji from the F-Players, a group competing with
Fatal1ty in professional tournaments.  We got a little one-on-one time
with both, and discussed training for tournaments, what it takes to be
a professional gamer, and how it feels to be living the dream.  Again,
video will be up next week.

We also got to sit down with the
crew at CCP, creators of the PC MMO EVE Online, a personal favorite of
mine.  We chatted about their next expansion, graphical improvements,
and potential new playable races in the future, although they were
sworn to secrecy on such issues.  Next was Magnus Bergsson, Iceland
native, Marketing Director for CCP.  Again, don’t let the title fool
you; Magnus is an EVE player and fan, so none of my gameplay questions
phased him in the least.  Again, great interview, and will be available
later on.

To wrap it up, we’ve got some shots of your favorite
games from the Into The Pixel display, basically a collection of video
game art pieces.  Hope you enjoy.

Myst 5

God of War

Darkwatch

Metal Gear Solid 3

And how could I miss, Project Gotham Racing 2.

Oh, and this is possibly the coolest loading screen I’ve ever seen.  Too bad the game sucks.

Now stay in school, crazy kids.  Tune in on Sunday for an E3 wrap up.
