Either Michael Pachter is certifiably bat-crap membrane-insane, or he is the most successful troll in the industry.

In a report issued by Pachter on Wednesday regarding EA and their fiscal report, Pachter states that the move to free-to-play will revitalize the failing Star Wars: The Old Republic, to the point of bolstering its numbers to HEIGHTS NEVER BEFORE SEEN.

“We believe the free-to-play option and lower retail price will combine to significantly increase the number of Star Wars players by the end of the year as the two largest barriers to entry for potential Star Wars gamers (apart from an appreciation for the franchise and PC gaming) have been significantly reduced or eliminated.”

So, is Pachter saying that Star Wars fans are largely poor? Because here I thought that the reason for Old Republic’s faltering numbers were due to a waning interest in the MMO genre and a heavily entrenched-in-WoW fanbase for said genre.

Also, he states that he believes the MMO could possibly “attract at least 10 million MAUs indefinitely, with upside to perhaps 50 million.”

50 million?! 50 MILLION?!!

You do know what a quote, MILLION, endquote, is, don’t you Mikey? Think about it.

WoW has never exceeded 12 million even in its height. 50 million is almost twice as much as the number of Halo games ever sold. 50 million is more than 4 times the sales of the original Angry Birds, and is the same amount of the FREE downloads that, as of May, had occurred for Angry Birds Space. And that’s a game for phones, not powerful computers.

Michael Pachter… you’ve officially gone off the rails, you crazy, crazy train you.
