Ten Games I play more often than is healthy:
Chrono Trigger
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Mega Man 2
Mike Tyson’s Punch Out
Taiko Drum Master (Japanese Version)
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Eternal Darkness
Time Splitters 2
Dr. Mario
Super Mario platformers

What does that list tell you? Well it indicates that I’m mostly an old school and arcade style player. But more so, you’ll find that my tastes are pretty eclectic and varied. I’ll play any type of game as long as there is quality to be found in it, and while people will debate it, you can always tell where the quality is in the gaming world. The best games of any genre will get you jumping out of your seat and shouting in excitement while you play them, or laughing with friends till your eyes tear up, and those are what I line my shelves with.

I think that games have come to be an integral part of American life. As a kid, I grew up playing my uncle’s Atari 2600 (which I’ve inherited over time, huzzah!) and have since played on nearly every system. 2600, 5200, 7800, Jupiter, Commodore 64, Intellivision, NES, CD-I, Turbografix 16, SNES, Master System, 3DO, Neo Geo, Lynx, Jaguar, 32X, Sega CD, Genesis, Saturn, N64, Gamecube, PS 1,2,3, Xbox and 360, Wii, Gamegear, Gameboy, SP and DS…if its got a little digital man whacking shit with fists or a sword, I’ve probably played it. In that time, I’ve seen games grow from a novelty, to something only nerds did, to the largest entertainment industry. As more generations grow up with games, and the industry becomes more immersive and imaginative, I have no doubt we’ll see this replace film and print as the standard in fantasy, escapism, and entertainment. What an exciting time we live in, to have grown up at the foundation of an industry, and to live to see it mature. This must be what it was like to see the first Talkie in the 30’s.

Always strive to do your best. Always be a pleasure to be around. Those tend to be my philosophies. We live life and lead others by example; knowing that, how can we be any other way?
