I honestly don't know what to think yet.

I don't see why you'd want one if they're going to continue marketing the SP and you get all of the games and whatnot on it. But maybe it has some uber features not discussed as of yet.

Well , I can certainly say I'm not surprised. After all, this is Nintendo we're talking about here. King of all things idiotic. I see this thing tanking easily if there isn't much innovation or practicality to the DS. I mean, the descriptions that Iwata gave of it sounded cool, but could only be used in a limited manner...so...it probably will flop. I just don't see it being used for more than an Advance Wars type of game. (Although I think that kind of thing for advance wars would be awesome) I just don't see it appealing to a broader audience than the advance wars crowd.

Seriously though. What the hell are you going to do with two screens besides drain batteries twice as fast?
Plus, you think your average gamer is going to be able to concentrate on two screens at a time, when they can barely concentrate on one?
I'm sorry, but this reeks of Virtual Boy.

Honestly, I'm not judging it till I see the damn thing.

That's what I'd like to do, but I honestly can't when the idea pops up in my head that it's basically a Nintendo Game & Watch with better graphics...hopefully I'll be wrong, but we'll see. I shouldn't judge this until I see it either, but the idea just reeks of Virtual Boy-itis.

Hey man, the Virtual Boy is pretty sweet. It makes my eyes hurt after playing it for a while, but it's sweet.

Jack posted his thoughts at lawrence.com on the DS...although his comments are way too strong for a 'Fanboy Hunter'
-"Nintendo... king of all things idiotic"???...
I agree with his initial reactions. It's hard to see the innovations with the limited info we got. I am UBER skeptical. I think announcing it this early was a pure mistake. It's confusing the hell out of everyone. People who grow weary of Nintendo's further alienation of the real world have nothing else to say but WTF?
That being said...Iwata said he'd be happy with 10% jumping on the bandwagon. Well...I am 10% curious what E3 will bring. Does that count?
I just fear Nintendo loves to continue carving out its niche...away form reality. But that knife is getting duller...
There is hardly room for another console/thing. Its concept has to completely blow the industry out of the water. So far, no good.

Maybe i was a tad harsh with the idiotic comment, but after the N64, the GC, and now the DS, I really can't get my hopes up too high on this thing. The concept sounds interesting, in the scope that I'm curious to see what it can do, but practically, I don't think any will have much use for it besides Nintendo, and they're going to have to have a lot more than Mario Soccer to get people to buy it.
