My heart is breaking...Black Isle has been shut down by Interplay. Baldur's Gate, my darling dearest... I don't know if I can take the pain. *shoots Half-Life aliens* Why did this happen? Because God hates me, that's why. Where are you now, you merciful faggot God? WHERE ARE YOU NOW?!?!

Maybe God's pissed too. Maybe Interplay is just EVIL. But I seriously doubt that God hates you.

I, too, shed many a tear upon reading the news on Slashdot earlier today. Many a glorious hour have I dumped into BG2, and I shall miss their ingenuity.

does this apply to the PS2 and XBox versions of BG2? If so, that would suck major donkeyballs

Yup. It does...both versions, and from what I hear, VU Games also laid off like 70 other employees from various studios....

Anyone else remember that a few months ago they were offered over 100 million dollars for the Games section of VU, but they refused it?

What the hell are they doing now? I mean jesus. If you're gonna keep a part of a company, don't cut corners to keep it profitable...

I think they just should have fired the entire team that worked on Hulk, Buffy 2, and Mace Griffin, and then they wouldn't have to fire people from the good teams.

Also, what happens when they start to lay off Blizzard and Valve guys?!?!?

I think this is only the beginning with VU being stupid....

This could be the end of RPG as we know it... someone firebomb these arses.

I don't know, it sounds like someone in management has made a lot of poor choices. I hope it stops at just this, which is bad enough.

I must admit that I didn't enjoy Baldur's Gate, especially Dark Alliance, but despite that, Black Isle defined a genre, and for that they will be missed.
