Favorite Animes

Just curious as to who here has an addiction to anime/manga. I'm sure there are a lot. I know that a lot of gamers like DragonballZ, but after the first few seasons it really lost its appeal, what with the constant grunting and repeating the same 5 lines in three episodes, with a bit of a tease ending whereupon one new action happens. Dragonball was so much better.

*ahem*

I have a lot of animes that I like, but here are some of my favorites (in no particular order).

1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
2. Ranma 1/2 (yes laugh, but the characters are great I can't help it)
3. Serial Experiements: Lain
4. Ghost in the Shell
5. Escaflowne
6. Blue Seed
7. Noir
8. Trigun
9. Cowboy Bebop
10. Ceres: Celestial Legend
Favorite Panty Shot Anime: Real 'bout High School: Samurai Girl

Anime that should be burned in the fiery depths of Hell: Twilight of the Dark Master

What where the thinking when they made this anime: Final Fantasy Unlimited

Must F*cked Up Anime: FLCL

Secret Anime I love that I get mocked for: Oh My Goddess

Hehe, wow, you like a lot of the depressing/mindfuck ones. I suppose I should update my top 10 list; haven't done so in a while... But I can't seem to pick out just 10, so here's a top 15 list, in no particular order:

Ranma 1/2 (hilarious slapstick, and Kuno is da bomb)
Rurouni Kenshin (l337 sword-slashin non-killin skillz)
Kodomo no Omocha (Child's Toy, ever seen a 12-year old girl rap on top of a car?)
Tenchi Muyo! (any except Tenchi in Tokyo, cabbits rule)
Fushigi Yuugi (yeah it's soap opera-y all to hell, but it's probably #1 on my list, I love it)
Saishuuheiki Kanojo (SaiKano; watch this one if you want a good cry)
Excel Saga (spoofs of every genre of anime? sign me up)
Golden Boy (Kentaro Oe is my hero. studystudystudystudystudy)
His and Her Circumstances (more soap opera, great characters though)
Those Who Hunt Elves (elf-stripping for fun and profit)
El Hazard (Katsuhiko Jinnai = best villian laugh ever)
Rizelmine (cutesy a-la Digi Charat girl cries explosive tears action)
Onegai Teacher (more soap opera, great characters and story)
FLCL (fucked up, definitely fucked up)
Full Metal Alchemist (episode 10 just aired in Japan, magic adventure involving lots of metal)

FFU... Hmmm, where do I begin? How about.... crime against nature?
OMG is great stuff, but I can't STAND the dub on the OAVs. The movie, they did a decent job with.
Never seen Real Bout or Twilight... Although from Silviar's reaction, I probably shouldn't try to watch Twilight anyway.

Yeah but those were jsut the ones I could think of off the to of my head. Those who hunt elves rocks and I hear there's a second one coming out.

You ought to try Noir - really good. How about oldtime anime? Anyone like the Guyver? Thundercats? Lol. You know, Galaxy Express 999 is pretty good.

I haven't seen Galaxy Express 999 yet, but I like all of Leiji Matsumoto's other stuff. I used to own the Harlock Saga on DVD, and I'm looking forward to watching the Daft Punk movie that was animated by him

I don't watch as much anime as I probably should. But from what I've seen my favorites are Neon Genesis Evangelion, Akira, anything by Hayao Miyazaki. I would watch more, but I don't have Cartoon Network and I'm not dedicated enough to download stuff. And buying anime on DVD is so expensive.

I have seen Noir; it has probably the best anime soundtrack I've ever heard. I can't really get into oldtime anime much... Then again I haven't seen much of it.
Anime isn't always over-expensive, weez... only if you get it at Suncoast. Try http://www.dvdpricesearch.com , you can get much better prices there.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Spirited Away (got Grundy to watch it, bwah haha) and Princess Monoke.
And anime isn't expensive if you know where to buy. Personally, I own probably around $1000 worth of anime that I paid about $400 for over time. If you go onto Amazon.com, you can buy entire series for the price of 1-2 dvds from sellers on there. In fact, there's a seller based in Shawnee Mission who I buy from since he upgrades shipping for free and is so close to me. So I get it the next day and is uber cheap. He goes by the name ddd-dvd-giftsets, and has some other name, but you can see he is based from Shawnee in KS in the seller info, so just look for that.

I got Ranma 1/2 seasons 1 and 2 for $40, Trigun series for $23... yeah, I saved a lot. I love graduation money, lol.

Don't get Afrotect started on Anime. The kid is taking classes in Japanese culture for crying out loud! So as you can imagine, I get a lot of my information second hand. Haven't seen much of it myself, I'm afraid. I was way too busy watching Rocko's Modern Life.

this is so hard, how can i limit my babies.

Rurouni Kenshin
Escaflowne
Naruto
Shamen King
Hunter x Hunter
Kite
One Piece
Love Hina
Cowboy Bebop
Houshin Engi
Yu-gi-oh!
Rockman.exe

hmmm, kinda makes me look as if i get my anime from the fox box. i wasn't a hugh fan of Sprited Away, i thought Pon Poko, or Monokehime where some of his betters. i mostly just read manga so this winter i plan on branching out to more anime.

i also do enjoy oldtime anime, laughable or not. Guyver is a great manga, and while the dubbing is bad i still like the sub anime. i totally grew up on thundercats, you can't talk smack about the cats.

I find it interesting that you all like Rurouni Kenshin, but no Samurai X? It's virtually the exact same thing. Only better, imho...
