I think this little image sums everything up quite nicely...

(taken from the SIMgolf webpage, but the point is clear)

READ: Maxis is ae Electronic Arts brand.
READ: Maxis Sold out [thier souls] to EA.

Seriously, EA has really ruined the once good name of Maxis and poor old Will Wright by releasing "fucktons" of crappy spin-off and sequals to his geat games. Oddly enough, if you go to the http://www.thesims.com or http://www.simcity.com and search (hit CTRL + F) for Maxis you won't find it on the front pages, not even in the fine legal print at the bottom. I don't know how much of Maxis even exists anymore, it been all gobbled up by EA; its like Darth Vader, sweet little Anikan Skywalker is in there somewhere, but its been all corrupt and made foul by the Dark Side.

Out off all the Sims games released in the past 3 years, even though they all enjoyed great retail success, only one or two have really been good games. The rest have been carried by thier name - kinda like Jurrassic Park 3.
  • The Sims (PC, then later ported to PS2)
    The Sims: Livin' Large
    The Sims: House Party
    The Sims: Hot Date
    The Sims: Vacation
    The Sims: Unleashed
    The Sims: Superstar
    The Sims: Makin' Magic
    The Sims: Online
The Sims: Bustin' Out, all consols and GBA
    SimCity 4
    SimCity 4: Rush Hour Expansion
    SimGolf
I'll be the first to admit that The Sims was a great game, I didn't really get into it a whole lot, but I could see how people could, and while I was playing with it, I had a hell of a good time. Besides that, it was really fresh and inovating, the first and only game of its type even to this day. Then EA bastardized it by releasing SEVEN expansion packs, and assloads of spin-offs and ports, not to mention a failed MMORPG that was developed in less than 18 months.. Then SimCity 4 was a huge disappointment, Should have know when Will Wright didn't even attach his name to it (Wright created SimCity, SimCity2000, The Sims, etc).. the SimGolf was pretty awesome too I hear, but that had Cid Meyer attached.

Point of the story is... FUCK YOU EA. Im so pissed at EA for SimCity 4.. They promised a multiplayer.. they promised! It was written right there on the box "Get your Multiplayer Action on" it said.. and the menu item was right there in the game... and you click it and it said "We'll add this feature with the first patch"... but it never materialize... then they release an expansion pack that we had to pay for... but still no Multiplayer!! Screw you all right in the eye EA.. you filthy Defiler of Games!!

Am I missing something here? When did Nintendo defile the Gameboy Advance?

When they released it to the world with such a terrible un-viewable screen, then taking 2 years to re-engineer and release what is essentially the same product (the SP) only to have taken away the headphone jack.

None of those problems bother me though. I'm used to viewing the screen because of years of playing Gameboy and Gameboy Color and I never use headphones. If those problems really bother you, you could always get a Gameboy Player. You'd lose the portability, but all those problems would be solved.

The problems with the non-SP really did bother me, and thus I didn't buy one.., The SP seems to be a step in the right direct in many respects as compaired to the GBA, although it fails for what I'm looking for -that is not to say that it doesn't fill some people needs.

I don't know how they got that origional screen past Q&A - I hope somebody lost his/her job over that.

I think defiles is probably a little strong of a word to use, I was just keeping with the topic of the post... but in future years, I think the non-SP GBA will be something Nintendo would rather forget.. swept under the same rug with the N64.

Heh, they've already swept it under the rug. Remember, the SP was supposed to be a limited-production thing, but it went so well they made it their staple and tossed aside their GBA molds.
