In my opinion, the best band out there right now is Alkaline Trio. These guys prove that punk rock is the shit. They're not very well know, at least not yet, but they kick some serious ass. I told Richie and another couple of dudes about them and they all listen to them now. Their CD's are full of catchy guitar riffs, and some awesome lyrics that you can't get out of your head. These guys are the shit, and you need to listen to them. They're going to be in Lawerence, KS on Dec. 6. Do yourself a favor an go listen to them NOW, and go see them on Dec 6!! If you don't have the money, for shit's sake, download it.

my friend likes them, thats the best i can do for a complement. not my sound. also i think they are pretty well known. more known then most "punk" bands. i can't really say this is "punk" not if you listen to stuff from the 80's. punk and all its offshoots, like emo, really died in the 80's. most things that claim to be so are really not, and if you hear them on a major radio station they are really really really not. sorry if i sound harsh, i think they are an ok band each person has their own tastes, just saying what mine are.

I was and still am a big fan of From Here to Infirmary. But I thought thier new release, Good Mourning, was lacking. I thought it was lacking alot. I was getting a little tired of Alkaline Trio's whole death theme and I felt Good Mourning took it to the max. I feel the same way about Yellowcard's, and AFI's new releases. The only new release that I felt improved upon a band's sound from a mainstream pop punk band was probably Brand New's Deja Entendu. But at least I still like From Here to Infirmary.

I love From Here To Infirmary too. It's my favorite. I like their new shit too, but I'm like a die hard fan. I thought their older shit was cool too. I have like 3 of their CDs and I love them all. But you are right: From Here To Infirmary is the shit. Richie and me are seeing them this Saturday in Lawerence. I can't wait, it's going to kick ass.

If you're going to the Alkaline Trio show, be sure to check out Reggie and the Full Effect. I think they're playing as one of the opening bands. 1st thing about Reggie: do not take them seriously. Reggie and the Full Effect is a sort of joke band from the mind of James Dewees (keyboardist of Get Up Kids and ex. Coalesce drummer). I mean, their first album was titled Greatest Hits 1984-1987 and their second album was titled Promotional Copy. Reggie's newest release, Under The Tray was pretty lame, but they're still fun to watch live. Reggie is always played by James Dewees, and the Full Effect has been different every time I've seen them. One time the Full Effect was made up of members of Ultimate Fakebook. Another time, it was the Get Up Kids. The most recent I saw them, the Full Effect had members of Shiner and Hot Rod Curcuit if I'm not mistaken. Well anyways, have fun. I probably would've gone to the show, but I've already seen most of the bands playing the bill. The Rapture/Shins show a few weeks ago was probably the last one I'd go to for the year, that is, unless something awesome comes by before the end of the year.

Atticus and I downloaded a few songs of both the other night, and I honestly wondered to myself if I should be taking them seriously. Thanks for the heads up. And ya, they're all playing at the same show, so we'll see them no matter what.

Like Richie said, we got a few of Reggie's music and I thought they sounded pretty good, but From Autumn To Ashes is some seriously fucked up shit, but it's still pretty fucking cool. Too bad you're not going to go Weezer, it's gonna be awesome. Maybe some other time.

Just as an update, the Alkaline Trio concert was awsome. No Motiv wasn't there, but Reggie and the Full Effect was, and From Autumn To Ashes, too. Some other group, sounded like Modine, was there in place of No Motiv, and all groups rocked the fucking house. Alkaline Trio's lead singer, unfortunatly, was sick and didn't sound quite right, but all was well in the end when they ended their show with My Friend Peter.
And weezer, you were right, Reggie is most definatly NOT to be taken seriously.

Yeah that concert rocked. The moshing during Alkaline Trio was very fun. The wait before sucked some serious ass, but it was worth it. Those guys are awesome, and as far as Reggie goes, well, yeah ok. He was a little fucked up and I think he had a few too many before he went on, but other than that, he was funnier than hell. A great concert and a hell of a night.

Glad to hear that you guys had a great time. By the way, did Common Denominator ever show up? What about Fluxuation? Those are some other personas that James Dewees takes on durring Reggie shows. And were there people dressed in bear suits jumping into the crowd and screaming?

Common Denominator was there, but no Fluxuation. No bears either, but they are some seriously disturbed people. I like them.
