Ok, so I have until now and the end of the semester to work on my final paper for one of my classes. There were alot of subjects to choose from, but naturally, I chose the one relating to video games. The topic of the research paper is: Computer Gaming (I will change it to Video Gaming): The Cause of Violence? Alright, so I need to examine both sides of the topic. Does anyone have any good suggestions of articles that I should look at? Maybe any books?

As much as I hate the movie "Bowling For Columbine" if you need a source for your paper it does do a good job in discussing the problems at hand. It will give you a good foundation to start from and different avenues to look down.

Paperwork on Columbine is a good place to look for paperwork because that is where the idea of media causing violence. There are a lot of pyschological profiles done that may be accessible may not be.

You might also want to check your local library through all those psychology journals.

"Do Video Games cause Violent Behavior" is a real limited topic. I wish you good luck on it.

and look up stories in the Japanese media, where video games have a more prominent mainstream presence.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think i'm going to take this route: Violence is caused by many factors, to place blame specifically on video games is absured. It's really easy finding articles about the negative repercussions of gaming, but so far, I haven't really found any articles about the positive psychological effects of gaming. Anyone know any articles that talk about that?

Here's an article that discredits studies on video game violence, saying that the results of the tests are skewed, since the games that are tested are customized in order to be intentionally more difficult to play:

Also, here's one that talks about common video games being used to help people overcome phobias and other psychological disorders:
