BreakmanX LAN: The Aftermath

Post by Verence »

Good times, good times.

Good to meet all of you who I hadn't met before. Good to meet those of you I HAVE met before, too.

Much fun was had, and the occasion was only slighty bittersweet. The vast majority was still very, very sweet.

I also learned the following things:

I hate Super Smash Bros Brawl. Even spamming thunderbolt with the Shockmouse (a surefire strategy, I was led to believe) I was bitch-slapped soundly and consistently.

Q is awesome. I have ordered two hard plastic card displays for my two BMX magic cards. Verence - Colussus Slayer and Gamer's Intensity (featuring Richie, who I learned is frighteningly intense even when not gaming. The man is probably frighteningly intense when he's brushing his fucking teeth.)

Weezerjedi (I refuse to call him AIDS) works at EVERY geeky establishment in Lawrence. A comic book shop, a video game store/LAN party central, and probably a few other places too. He probably had to reproduce via fission at some point so he could hold down all five geek jobs he has. There are 3+ Weezerjedi's running around Lawrence at any given time. This has been proved.

What did you learn?

...

God, time for sleep now...

Hmmmmm...intense...bullshit or not, I kinda like it. :D

Anyway, it was an amazing time. I learned that:

Bullet Bill > * in Mario Kart Wii
I'm worthless at top-down shooters (Radiant Silvergun)
Mericks is just as weird as he sounds
Wireless internet it not to be counted on in a pinch
The BMX hosts could be beaten in Rock Band by a chimpanzee and two toddlers

More to come.

This sounds like an expansion pack to the BMX LAN party. When can we expect BreakmanX LAN: Counterstrike?

Last night was awesome. Thats the first time in a long time that I've been able to have a long ass gaming session like that, and it was awesome. GameNutt was an awesome place, and had a really cool set up. Rock Band was fun, especially on that big ass TV. It was also fun kicking Q's ass in Halo 3 haha. Definitely one of the funnest nights I've had in a while.

*gasp* O.O!!!! I'm weird! OMG!!!!

Thanks for confirming that...I thought I was going crazy when I concluded that I was weird...

Oh, and I learned that Richie is a pimp even when wearing a Dr. Pepper shirt.

Also, I STILL suck at FPSs, I DO need to practice at Super Smash Bros. Brawl consistently or else I'll still play the game horribly, I take an INCREDIBLE amount of warmup before I can play decently at Rock Band, and everyone is even cooler in person.

I wish there WERE a record of what the webcam saw. :(

And a record of the chat for that night.

They are forever lost, I suppose.

Oh well. :P

Let's make this an annual thing and make it in the middle of summer where less fortunate people can attend xD

Wait, out of curiosity, how MANY people attended?

Oh, 20 some people. I have no idea who the majority of them were.

Mericks brought, like, 5 people. He rolled up with quite an entourage.

Actually, counting myself, there were 7 of us:

Me
Brent
Danny
Alex
Jeff
Michael
Karl

We had quite an amusing trip on the way TO the party

EDIT: Also, Alex (aka SrgWallopy) and Michael left extremely early. EXTREMELY. I believe Danny attended solely for the sake of proving that it IS possible to travel almost 3 hours just to play Rock Band and nothing else all night. Karl attended and learned to play Rock Band.

Oh, and I also learned that if you're the last band in a Rock Band tournament, be sure to choose (Don't Fear) The Reaper and you automatically win, as everyone's too tired to want to play the song. Oh, and my band could almost pass Blackened. ALMOST.

My GOD what a night. These need to happen more often. And if I have my way about it, they will.

Verence, don't feel bad about SSBB. You were playing against 3 pretty seasoned players.

I suck at Rock Band that late at night, and I hate myself for it.

bmdubya, I was totally off my game. And out of practice. I should really play Halo more often.

Naruto 3 (imported from Japan) was a big hit, glad some people got to play that where they probably wouldn't ever have played it otherwise.

Also, playing the X-Men arcade game with 3 other people is good times. Welcome to die! X-Chickens!

I'll put up the full collection of Magic cards I made later today.

Actually, there IS a recording of what the webcam saw and heard. I clicked record right after the show. We used Richie's laptop for the cam, so I just gotta find out what he saved it as on our stickam account.

As for the chat, I have a log of the chatroom going back to 2004.

Typheus: There were 25 people all in all.
