Well...first off: "WTF M8!?"
Secondly: It was a good movie
The version of it I watched was subbed Spanish, which I heard was the original language of the movie. Or maybe it was German...or...hell, I dunno. I just know that I felt like I was watching a live action anime through the whole damned thing, almost remeniscent of Spirited Away.
Now, someone told me this movie was..err...an interpretation(?) of WWII, having both the real WWII played out along with Pan's weirdass experience. I really can't see how the fantasy aspect translates over to WWII ideals, but I digress.
Anyone else have any comments on it?
How about that scary Silent Hill mother fucker with the eye hands? Now THAT was fucked up. I mean seriously, that was THE Silent Hill experience if you've never seen the actual movie or played the games. If that scene didn't absolutely freak you out, you might actually make it through the games without pissing yourself
But, yeah, it was weird. Great movie...but weird. >_>;

Pan's Labyrinth (sp?) *spoilers*
Re: Pan's Labyrinth (sp?) *spoilers*
I don't personally think its supposed to be analogous with WWII, as much as its supposed to be a Grimm's style fairy tale set during the war. If you watch the interviews with the director, he describes very meticulously the different fairy tale conventions that he brings over, and his desire to not flinch away from violence to really make the story concepts resonate with adult audiences.
And yeah, its a really good movie.

Pan's Labyrinth is a fucking awesome movie. Guillermo Del Toro is an amazing director. His vision is unbelievable on every movie he does. From Hellboy to Pan's Labyrinth to his unfluences on The Orphanage to, of course, Hellboy 2, he just fucking rocks.
That is all.

Yeah, the similarity between Pan's Labyrinth monsters and HellboyII monsters is very obvious.

Completely obvious. Also, if you look for falling debris in certain shots. Del Toro LOVES that. It's in all of his work, and is awesome.

The Silent Hill monster scared the shit out of me...and that scene was so...morbid...and gruesome. Poor fairy.
Also, I officially became afraid of glass bottles since I saw that movie.
