On the topic of FF7

Post by Typheus »

We all know Crisis Core is coming out soon and it looks badass but I can't help but feel I'm getting left behind.

I mean I saw the FF7 movie without ever touching the full game of FF7, and I understood what was going on in a science fiction. fantasy sense, but not any connection to the characters or the FF7 world.

Now, I'm this close |-| to playing it through a means that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with roms, and I was just wondering if it was worth the money...

FFVII is definitely worth the money. The story is really cool with a lot of deep symbolism reaching into many religions.

Maybe if I can find it somewhere. I mean I wish there were game stores that would carry really popular classics like FF7, but no place seems to have it anymore, and I'm not going ebay because it aint worth 100 fuckin dollars for a PS1 game, and even if it was, I'm too much of a tight ass to pay it :P

Meh, I'm going back to work at the Marqee this summer, and it's up near gamestop so I guess I can check in once in a blue moon :(

I'm not playing FF7 until a remake comes out; call me a graphics whore if you want, but FF7 in its present state makes me barf.

well, compared to today's graphics; yeah, the graphics are old. But, for it's time you would not believe how blown away I (and everyone else) was!

As cool as it would be to have an updated/cleaner version, I still feel it doesn't need to.

If you don't feel like playing it, that's cool too.

The characters look bad, but what they did with the background and large animated objects with such limits as those on the PS1 is marvelous...

BreakmanX, I'm looking at your little selection of console emoticons.

Kind of sad how many consoles we went through in 10-15 years, eh?

I swear I must have owned all over them except for the DS and the PS3, and it'll just be the DS pretty soon.

Another thing I never owned was the Saturn and I still regret it :(

I love FF7's graphics. They have a certain charm that I think a remake will destroy. I'm definitely not looking forward to a remake.

I am looking forward to a remake, but still agree with Mecha. The remake won't be charmingly nostalgic, as the original is.

It might be more awesome, though.

Even I must take the side that favors FF7 on this issue...

I don't see what's wrong with FF7's graphics.

I mean, hell, it's easy to tell what everyone is, and the background and foreground objects are extremely well done.

However, I don't think that a remake would actually..HURT anything, ya know? I'd actually like to see some of the events in FF7 take place in real time with some good physics to give it a cinematic quality.

Sorry, I agree with Vamp. The graphics are just dated, and it's tough to go back since I have that next gen glitter in my eye, and the remake is coming out anyway, so why bother unless you want to get a head start or something. But anyway like i've said before the bigger reason why I'm waiting for the remake is because my save data corrupted itself (TWICE).

So yeah, an audio and visual revamp is enough to make me buy the remake. Just because it's 'cool' to have completed and prefer the OG version doesn't mean I'll go against the remake.
