Omfg! The Star Wolf theme from Assault! That's one of my favorite songs fucking ever! The one from 64 had the same rhythm, but IIRC it didn't sound as orchestrated, it was .midi kind of quality stuff which was fairly...meh...
The orchestrated song is fucking great though. I used to play certain sections of Star Fox Assault JUST to hear that song (most notably I liked to see how much I could kick ass in the Star Wolf fight on Gold...).
Here's the theme from Assault for those that never played it:

Here is the crappy 64 theme for those that...I dunno...forgot it or want to compare them or something:

Yeah...the 64 doesn't have the same nostalgia for me though...It would've, but I wasn't able to play 64 LOOOOOONG after it came out...in fact I didn't get it until AFTER I got Assault.jayt11 wrote:Mericks, i take that back....those horns on the Assault remix kick some serious ass.
I still dig the 64 version for nostalgic reasons.
I don't think they should get rid of the ground missions. Scavenger hunting was just a LITTLE boring sometimes...not much though...
I personally, I'd say the game would do good with ground mission. I just think they need to touch them up rather than get rid of them. Personally, from what I saw, people were getting annoyed with ground missions because they broke some kind of series "formula" that was "established" after 2 games. TWO. MAYBE 3 if you wanna count the unreleased Star Fox 2, but that one had ground missions too, but you didn't leave your cockpit ever. Your Arwing just changed shape and you could change it back actually. That was later eliminated, however.
But yeah...there were 2 games that were on-rails only, and 2 games with ground missions. One of them just not seeming to really fit in with the futuristic setting at all though...I still liked it...but it felt awkwardly different seeing as the settings clashed a bit...
Still, it left room for one of my more favorite missions in Assault, which was the one where you saved Sauria. I found I could kick some major ass in that stage. Personally I thought they should've had more stages where you could be on-foot, in your Landmaster, and in your Arwing. Just for the variety...I was really disappointed with a lack of Landmaster on-rails levels...

How about an open ended galaxy for you to travel through? Make it so you can switch between the Arwing, Landmaster, and walking. The Arwing would be needed to travel through space, the landmaster could have superior firepower and defense, but walking would be required to get certain things, infultrate a building, etc. Grand Theft Auto: Cornelia
