What an utter piece of failure.

I don't understand what market they're aiming for. How many people are out there saying "Gee I sure would like to buy a Mac if only they had shittier specs, cost way more, and was a little thinner." As if their computers weren't already blatantly overpriced; and still the cheapest you can pay for a macbook that has a real graphics card is $2000, and it's still a shittier GPU than I got in a Vostro that now costs $900.

It's not being anti-Apple. I love my Mac and I can't understand this product. It has no CD drive or ethernet port and it's nearly as expensive as a Macbook Pro. I know it's got a decent amount of power, 802.11n, and the option of a SolidState Drive, but really. If it were closer to $1000, it'd be more worthy of attention.

Yeah I wont disagree with you there, but aren't we used to Apple usually being overpriced..

LOL, I was hoping someone would bite...
But seriously, I'm no Apple hater. I use my Powerbook G3 on the Show every week. It's eight years old and it still won't give up.
I just find the Air to be incredible. $1800 for a 13" screen, 80 GB drive, two gigs of memory, and a dual core processor? That's about $800 worth of laptop anywhere else.
Yet Jobs knows people will pay it, so they can look cool drinking their double espresso at the local Starbucks. For that, I have to give Apple kudos.

I think the main reason it's so expensive is that is uses different materials. Supposedly it's landfill-safe, and most computers definitely are not.

Also I used an iBook G4 for a year and a half before I got my Vostro.
While I'm on the subject, I thought having only 2 USB ports on that was incredibly limiting; I can't imagine being stuck with just one ala Air.

Yeah, I'm usually impressed with Apple, but this thing holds no value to me.

I really do respect Apple, though. The Air will sell, no question. Apple knows there's money out there waiting to be spent on a sexy piece of unobtanium like the Air.
They're the only company, short of BMW, that could sell such a product. "Look! It's priced like a desktop replacement, but has one-quarter the features! AND it'll impress your tree-hugging friends! Buy now!"

Yeah that wasn't pointed at you Richie, more towards Vamp.
All you need is firewire or USB external drive to fix drive problem. Cut price to 1k I think it would be a fair deal.

I'm pre-ordering that s**** right now!!!!!
j/k, i don't see a point to it. I think they should just concentrate on making better improvements to the software packages.

Why should you have to buy an external drive when apple could've easily just added in 1 or 2 more?
