Ok, so everyone here knows my experience with Xbox customer service. And everyone knows the arguments I've had with various other people about it over the last few months.

Number of Xbox 360s that have died on me: 3 dead Xbox 360s
Number of lights that I've encountered: 9 flashing red ones

Number of calls to 1-800-4MY-XBOX since March: 22 calls

Number of callbacks promised: 15

Number of callbacks received: 3

Number of SR's started: 9

Number of SR's closed or replaced due to being set up incorrectly: 5

Number of SR's closed due to issues actually being resolved: 2

Most Number of times I was asked my name and phone number during a single call: 11 times

Number of times I was told "Microsoft will contact you when the investigation is complete": 40+

Number of times that I ended up on the Spanish language hold line: 8

Total spent on Xbox 360 related products: $3120.78

Amount of XBL content not working properly: 25,600 points ($319.87)

Total time spent on the phone with 1-800-4MY-XBOX: 1 day, 2 hours, 55 minutes

Total time spent trying various remedies: 1 day, 9 hours, 55 minutes

TOTAL TIME TRYING TO RESOLVE ISSUES WITH MY XBOX 360's: 2 days, 2 hours, 50 minutes

That's kind of one reason this made me happy. I was feeling like the only one they treat like poo. I'm glad to know that many others have had a worse experience than me. Makes me feel a bit less crazy.

Oh Microsoft. They reached the top so now they can fuck everyone over and get away with it.

Seriously, Microsoft seems to be getting worse and worse. It seems like they want to see how far they can go before people realize that Microsoft has competitors.

Your experience sucks (breakmanX) I would have thrown my system away after the first hour. Your patience far exceeds anyone that I know :D
When I bought my first 360 (a year after it came out) the guy at BestBuy told me about the "red lights of death" and REALLY recommended the extended warranty.
Anyways, the reason I'm writing this is to say to anyone that is thinking about buying a 360 is definitely buy the extended warranty; because your fancy new 360 WILL FAIL!!!
I went through THREE 360's until I got one that actually worked for more than a day!
And even this one gives me the occasional E74 error, but I just shut down then restart and that seems to be working fine for me.

If I were to come up with an analogy for the XBOX 360 it would be: the games for the 360 would be the girl that you really like and go out with, while the 360 hardware itself is the dad that is jerk to you. You put up with the 360 only because it has the games you like.
