Just wondering. I rented the Japaese version last month and I enjoyed it alot. I hope it sells well. I haven't seen any commercials for it yet though. Has anyone seen any commercials for it?

Bought it, and I also love it. If you have a Gamecube you need it. And if you don't have a GC, consider getting one for it. (That's what Gamespot said as well.)

Its funny. I don't find the fact that VJ is cute to want to play the game. I do however find the great sidescroling, invovative gameplay does
More impressions anyone?

I haven't bought it, but I will. Cell shaded graphics, a good looking game, a cool looking character. The selling point for me is that it's 2D. With all the ideas that have come up since the 16 Bit days, we could use some more fresh ideas for 2D games, and this is one of the best one's yet. Give me an epic Metroid 2D again, but put it on the cube this time so we can see just how good a new 2D metroid can look.

I agree with you 100%, man. 3d is a fad now, since it is the newest technology. Hopefully we'll get to the point where games will be made in the dimension that works best, not the most popular.

Nice way of stating that, "the best, not the most popular." I totally feel you on that one. 2D is an untapped genre these days. GBA is proof that 2D is not dead with all the Castlevania and Super Mario games that have come, not to mention Metroid Fusion. I hope Viewtiful Joe can start a 2D comeback of sorts.

Me too. Its definately got the potential to. It all depends on if people buy it or not. The executives fund the artists, and they only answer to the doller sign. Buying a game is like voting for it in an election that must be really frustrating for the developers.

Capcom did such a wonderful job with Viewtiful Joe that I'm now 100 times more excited for Killer 7 and Resident Evil 4.

I'm not a ResEvil fan, so I can't say the same for that one, but I can't wait for Killer 7. Mmmm... Insane Spike Spiegel-rip-offs...

I'm hearing VJ gets insanely difficult after a while, even on childrens difficulty. Not that it would sway my decision to get it, I'm just reporting what I've heard.

I'm currently at the end of Episode 3 with Gran Bruce (The shark with cannons on the side on his head). I would say its Challenging, not so much hard. It takes some practice but its do-able. 1/2 the fun is working through a level a couple times and making several attempts at the bosses, and its NEVER boring.

You can manipulate stuff as well right, like fast forward or rewind or slow motion, stuff like that right. So is it a matter of finding the balance to do that stuff or what? I'm intrigued, I think I'm going to go get it today.

Don't forget, you can also zoom in. Which is also adds even more depth to an already deep game. All of these things give a great selection to make endless combinations of combos to get as many viewtifuls as you can.
