Transformers

Just saw Transformers and thought I'd share my opinion of it. Personally, after seeing Pirates 3 and Spider-man 3, coming out of both with a sense of disappointment, I must say that Transformers gae me a much different feeling.

First off I have to make note of the fact that the movie is much more mature than any Transformers series. People swear quite regularly, sexual innuendo, tons of explosions and death (which is actually depicted with a touch of humor sometimes, just to give some hints of dark humor).

Anyway, moving on, it's pretty obvious the movie doesn't stick to the storyline of any Transformers series. If you're too dedicated to the series, don't see the movie. If you want to see a new story for Transformers, plus new personalities an character designs, then go to the movie.

I'll probably post later with the things I didn't like, I already made this a little longer than I planned.

That's really really really really shocking. I was expecting this movie to be flamed the FUCK out of. and everyone that I know that has seen it says it's fuckin' amazing. A good Micheal Bay film? I guess it's really possible.

Well, Spielberg did produce Transformers, so that might have something to do with it.

Anyway, I just found out, through the magic of wikipedia, that Michael Bay is rumored to be working on a Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie. Much like Transformers, the movie is confirmed to go in a completely different direction of the original concept.

Unfortunately, changing Sands of Time and still making it as amazing as it was seems...dare I say, impossible. I love that game. The 2 sequels leave something to be desired, mostly due to the catastrophic amount of glitching due to rushing the projects too much and terrible beta testing.

I'm playing two thrones right now and I'm almost done with it. The dark prince sequences are more annoying than fun and I don't see how it does anything interesting with the story.

He was the executive producer, but that usually just means they invested (payed) for it. When you pay for it you can have creative input, but mostly you just handle business aspects such as funding and the studio.

I like the Dark Prince segments sometimes. Have you gone through the ruins with the Dark Prince yet? That segment was terrible. You have to drag him through like 20 minutes of gameplay straight. Very few objects to get sand out of, and lots of enemies to help you die. I nearly killed someone.

But the Dark Prince does add a somewhat interesting factor. The Dark Prince is there more for character development and closure rather than the story proper.

Well, if Spielberg was allowed creative input, and he threw something out there for them, IMO they're rather stupid if they ignore it. Oddly enough, with as good as the movie was, Michael Bay was receiving lots of shit from old Transformers fans beforeand for some of his ideas. The 1 I know of the best is 1 that he brought up in an interview dealing with Optimus having a flame pattern.

my main beef is "too many damn humans."

What always kept me hooked on Transformers was the interaction between the robots...how Starscream always pissed Megatron off, and who can forget the unwavering loyalty of Soundwave? Megan Fox is a hottie, but in Transformers lore, i can do without her, in favor of focus on the various Autobots and Decepticons.

I've simply chosen to remember them as they were instead of as they are.

That is actually 1 thing I didn't like as well. I got used to it after about 70 minutes though. Another thing I didn't like was how quiet most of the movie is. It's not nearly as destructive as I was expecting. At least, for a while, hehe.

from what i've heard, on its own merits, it's a good movie. I'm just too much of a traditionalist to want to see it.

(Still recovering from the UN-Miami Vice like "Miami Vice" movie :)

I saw Harry Potter last night. I've seen them all as well. I'd say that was the best. going in this order:

5, 3, 4, 2, 1

Why? That's just how it is.
