On December 16, select theatres across the nation will be showing a marathon of the Lord of the Rings films back to back. First is Fellowship of the Rings: Extended Version, then The Two Towers: Extended Version, and at 11:00 pm going into the next day, The Return of the King. The official opening of The Return of the King begins at 12:01, December 17, which also happens to be my birthday. What a great birthday present. Thank you JRR Tolkien and Peter Jackson.

Wow, talk about overload. Don't get me wrong, these movies are great, but all 3 in a row, two of theme extended versions?? I hope they have potty breaks in between each movie...

Alright, here's the list of where they're having the marathon!

http://www.lordoftherings.net/trilogy/theaters.html

The only theatre in the Kansas City/Lawrence area that is showing it is the AMC Studio 30 in Olathe. It's the one right by the NVGL in Olathe. It's only about 10-15 minutes from where I live. Oh, and tickets for the marathon are going on sale this Thursday (October 9th). So, act fast. Because I know that this thing is very likely to sell out. Especially since there's only one theatre in the area that's going to show it. I don't know how much a ticket costs, but I'll find out when I get out of classes later. Oh man, I am so stoked!

Alright, I just called them and they said the tickets will go on sale Thursday and you get either order them online or at the theatre box office. They will cost $25 for all day. Let's see...3 movies, each about 3+ hours long. That's almost $8 a movie, which is about the average price of a movie ticket. I haven't watched Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers for a while and I wouldn't mind seeing them in the theatre again. In my opinion, the price is well worth it. Especially to see Return of the King at the earliest showtime. So, if you're thinking like me, then get you ticket on Thursday!

*CORRECTION* Tickets go on sale tommorow, but they are only available online. I called Studio 30 in Olathe and they said they're not even sure if if they will be selling tickets in thier box office. I'm still trying to find out where online to order the tickets though.

Finally! I just got my tickets. movietickets.com has been screwed up since about 12:00 today. It's is now 6:28 according to my clock. I've been desperately trying to get my tickets since about 2:00. I think the reason why movietickets.com is having problems is because so many nerds like me were trying to get thier tickets. It took forever, but it was worth it.
