and a really cheap sound blaster 5.1 soundcard
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2741895981
Also, checkout
http://www.indigames.com for hardcore tabletop games
But what I really posted about was galaxies... I met a friend here in columbus at a convention. We got to talking about SW: galaxies and I swear that the conversation made me so overjoyed fro the game I am on a religious mission to buy it. If a game that I haven't even played can make me bubble over like that it must be worth it. My friend had it preordered and on started on tatooine (sp?) he made his way to mos eisley and told me that he witnessed ****ing Solo and Greedo (he spoke greedos language and greedo said "you'd better come with me" and solo said "Oh.... Really" and balsted him!!!!) and Solo going to the Canteena to meet Luke and Obi Wan... Then after a few hours of the NPCs in the Canteena telling him that they were busy right now, He saw the millenium falcon fly off!@@!!!@! I am so amazed by this story driven plot and the pure energy of how he described it.. I need this game now and I'm selling everything I have to get it!!!
Not to mention the pureness of the system... Omg it's a freeform MMORPG that has a customizable world... I feel like a 14 year old girl and a poster of Leonardo Dicaprio... LOL.. the way peopl can gaint he force and the way that you can master anything you want is soooo awesome!
just my thoughts, check out my ebay auction and help me get galaxies please..!!!

I'm sorry to bust you're bubble, but you're friend is full of shit. I go into the Mos Eisley cantina all the time, and there are no Greedo's or Han Solo's to speak of. I also highly doubt he saw the Millenium Falcon, or any other Corellian Engineering YT-1300 freighter, since no one can fly space ships yet, NPC or otherwise. He might have seen a ship fly over, sure, but those are part of the environment, not actual players.
It's awsome you're selling all your games, but I'd recommend you try to see it somewhere before you buy. It's a great game, crafted by God himself and handed down to man, but not all will enjoy it.
Besides, you've got some classic PC games there. AvP, Total Annhilation, Myth 2, I'd keep those if I were you. Don't you have an easier way to make money?

I don't know about the validity of what my friend told me, but it still sounds badass witht he freeform system... I agree the things in my ebay auction are classics and I very much enjoyed all of them, but the time has come to visit the ghost of gaming future and layway the ghost of gaming past... I'm also going to auction some rpg stuff I don't use. I'll also have another pc game lot filled with some strat classics like starcraft and broodwars among others...
plus i have a problem with being consumed by games and I'm hoping that if I get SW I can concentrate on that and college at the same time

Hmmm... I dunno, the Han Solo/Greedo/Obi-Wan/Like stuff he's talking about is theoretically possible. It could be a one-time event generated by the server near the beginning of the server start-up. We already know that there is an overriding storyline to the thing, and we know that every 6 months a winner (rebel or empire) is declared, so it stands to reason that they could have created events that fit into that 6-month timeline. They're trying to make this game as much like the SW universe as possible, and adding localized timed events like that would certainly beef up the authenticity. Who knows, maybe, once the space expansion comes out, you'll be able to travel to Endor near the end of the 6 months and witness the Second Death Star Battle. Could be greatness.

OK, sure, its possible. Point conceded. But it sounded fishy to me, by the way Ghoest told it, and how he was told. But I'm perfectly willing to eat my words if someone can find a reliable story and/or proof of such an event happening.
Indeed, it would be really fucking badass if the characters showed up in the Galaxy every once in awhile. And if I have a chance to witness the Battle of Endor, I sure as hell will
.

Call me a skeptic, but until I see screenshots or movies or some kind of proof, I'm going to remain skeptical.

it looks like most of the npcs are static but that still doesn't rule out event driven actions that happen only one here... Richie, i too am very skeptical about this...
here's what I know:
Every 6 months there is a winner declared (rebel or imperial).. so this could be the point where the story is reset...
The plot takes place between new hope and empire strikes back
once the space expansion is released the devs say that it will be possible to flyby the second deathstar in construction ( so maybe they'll further the story and include return of the jedi )
I can't wait to buy this and play (regardless of the story) what server do u guys play on right now?

It should be noted that on the back of the Galaxies box, it does say you can "Cross Paths and interact with famous Star Wars characters, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo and many, many more."

Indeed, you speak the truth.
Maybe I'm skeptical cause this kind of thing sounds just like something a lamer would say, to me anyway. This game is perfect for people to make things up like that (good example:
http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.p ... did=105862).
To the credit of this thread, I just got done doing missions for Talon Karrde, one of the pimpest characters in the entire SW universe, so that has to say something.

I'm not a lamer by any means (perhaps my new friend is tho)... It does look and sound like the NPCs are very much static and not dynamic saddly enough... I mean, how could you get missions from the NPCs while they are going on these scripted one time plot "trips"... Perhaps this is a feature that they will implement in the future.. I know I'd like to kick ass in Endor with Han searching for the shield generator.. The other feature I'd like to see would be, actually being able to walk inside ships while you're not piloting or gunning in them.... playing chess or interacting while in a ship would be kewl... I also hope they don't just shrug off the space expansion and forget about the small things like hailing other ships ect...

hey, just browsing the
SWG site and found this:
SWG Monthly Story page wrote:Our Events Team will try to promote player-hosted events; and there may be some additional company-sponsored live events that revolve around the current story. Please note, however, that company-sponsored events will be very rare. It is the SWG team's philosophy that 98% of our time and talent should be spent on permanent content that everyone can enjoy, taking priority over events geared to small groups of players. However, don't be too surprised if you hear of someone running across Han Solo controlled by a Digiteer (digital actor).
just thought i'd pass it along.
(and no, due to circumstances beyond my control, i have not bought the game yet, though the future looks promising
)

Yeah, I read that and when I saw the bottom line I went
"Holy SHIT that's cool." They're not just having a scripted Han Solo bot with built-in automatic responses running around, they've got an actual actor sitting at a computer playing as Han Solo itself. This shows the level of dedication Sony and Lucasarts are putting into it, I think. Now, if they can get Harrison Ford himself to do it, you can expect to not see me in the real world ever again (unless you break into my apartment).
