BreakmanX's Student Films

As most of you know I went to the University of Southern California and took the first graduate school film class. I plan to go there for grad school, so this was a nice way to get 8 hours out of the way. 4 hours were of class work, and the other 4 was of just filming. We were in class all week, but also had to make one movie a week. This was a rather daunting task as we had to share all the filiming and editing equipment with our partner. It was a constant rush to coordinate actors and all that. Every Friday we showed our films to the class and got a response. These films are really more sketches of a film we'd like to do at a later date. We also weren't allowed to use any dialogue, and had to show everything through other means.
Anyway, I've decided to share my 2nd film from the class with you. Not my favorite one, but I do really like one of my shots.

Sorry to take ages to reply (since I just
know you were dying for my feedback in particular
) but I had to dl it... and then have some quiet time in which to watch it through more than once.
I liked the theme of this, and the music was a good choice.
The opening shot of the fellow walking along with the streetlamps was good. The initial cut to the ocean didn't seem to fit though... think you should've made the group scene the first cut to black and white.
I really liked the way he revisited alone all the places that he'd been with her, and how you managed to convey how empty they seemed without her there.
Loved the running away from the waves too - the young lady had one of those smiles that makes other people want to smile. You really captured some good emotional looks on the chap's face too, you got a real sense that he was struggling with what had happened and trying to come to a decision.
Good work as always.
