On May 17th, 2003 we did a live interview with Greg Snook, who is an employee for Bungie. He is currently doing programming duties for Halo2. We opened it up so listeners could ask Mr. Snook questions, as well.

Greg will look over all comments you post here, and possibly take them to Bungie with him if he likes them enough. So continue to post your comments and suggestions for Halo2 here.

Good show.
I was hoping that in the halo 2 interview you could ask if it will support High Defenition (why wouldn't it) and what mode it will support up to. Also how much of the original Halo multiplayer will be there?

Ask him if there was a pay increase when Microsoft bought Bungie.. we dont need his specific wage, just if there was a change or not.. also, it'd be interesting to know about any other changes that may have taken place when MS bought them.. Also, ask him if Microsoft imposes any type of restrictions on what can go into an Xbox game, or any restriction on how long the game has to be..

Also, other things I want to know about....

I want to know what his education was, and how he got started in the gaming industry. I hope to one day follow in his footsteps, so if you could get him to give some hints and tips on how he got into the biz, or what he studied at school, etc.. (Ive looked on line from Bio info on Greg, but could find any.. although, I found he has an upcomming book) I suppose you could ask him about this book too.

Also, I'd love for him to walk us through the standard day in the office.. and if he could.. walk us through several days.. like one from early devolpment, where they are brainstorming, mid development where they are coding, and late development where they are hitting bugs, or when they've finnished the engine but still waiting for the artists to make content. That'd be interesting to me.

I think of more stuff and post them soon.. Break, this interview will be great. I will leave you to re-word these questions.. Im just putting down thoughts as they jump to me.

Also, Ask him what part of the Halo engine he worked on.. From his book I'd guess it'd be the terrain engine.. but he might have worked on other parts too.

And I want to know what Websites he frequents (besides BreakmanX.com). And what movies, TV, music, etc... he likes... Also, ask if he has a favorite game, or what game he is currently playing, has played recently, etc..

Umm what, else.. ask him which consoles he owns, and which he thinks is best.. ask for reasons why? Ask him if he enjoys playing his own games as much as he does with other poeples..

Thats some more for you Break.

What consoles does he own? What are the specs on his computer (at home and at work)? What type of internet connection does he have (at home/work)?

I dont know if they would make him use MSN, they'd atleast force IE though, I'd suspect.
God forbid he tryed to use Pheonix or Netscape!?1! Bill would have a Shit FIT!

BTW, Break, ask him if he has ever seen / talked to Bill or Steve Balmer.

Im posting this link here so somebody remembers to go here and bump this thread on the RvB forums, so all the good people there can hear the interview. I will plan on doing it on Saturday morning, at about 6am Central.. But you guys might need to give it a little nudge if it falls of the front page again while I sleep.

I was hoping to know when the Halo 2 E3 trailer will be released for everyone on the internet. I'm sure there are millions others who'd want to know the same thing. :?: :?:

Programming question

As a programmer on a game with fantastic graphics, I'm guessing you use a lot of 3d mathematics. I'm assuming that in a reasonably large team not everyone is proficient with hardcore 3d maths, so how much of a programmers time is spent writing tools for other programmers to use and not worry about the 3d maths behind it all?

Thats a good question Duncan, I'd love to see the interview go in that kind of 'technical' direction for a little while.

Also, somebody go bump on the RvB forums.. Im about to sleep.

Halo 2 Interview

It would be great if during the interview you could ask about the length of Halo 2. Halo 1 was 10 massive levels with four difficulty options. How will Halo 2 compare in length/difficulty. Thanks.
