I need to blow off some steam and quick. This is the only place I know of that directly involves anime that they're not watching (and I'm also known here).

Recently, FUNimation contacted IY4Ever Fansubs, a group I've been apart that fansubs anime that's currently being aired in Japan, and threatened one of our long-standing members with a lawsuit if we didn't stop two of their newly licensed series'.

Okay... It's a fansub. Sure, they've licensed the English version, and sure, they have a say in whether or not we continue fansubbing using our US BitTorrent tracker. Fine, we can live with that. We're giving them free promotion, and people buy their DVDs on the day of the release, or buy them period, because they've seen our fansubs. But you know what? If asked, we would stop.

But a mother fucking lawsuit threat? No, "I'm contacting you as a representative of FUNimation Entertainment. Please stop all distrobution of our following licensed material: Samurai 7 & Basilisk".

Just a, "Stop or we'll sue you". I mean what the fuck sticks? Dude what the fuck?! They could do it if they wanted, yeah. It's theirs. They have every right to want it taken down. But literally and blatantly threatening a member that doesn't have any control over those projects in the first place is just fucking low. Where'd that even come from?!

This is precisely the kind of shit that companies try to avoid due to bad publicity. And you know what? Fuck'em. They've totally lost my money and they've probably lost a good couple hundred of other people's money too. I refuse to buy anything FUNimation from this day forth. If I can find fansubs of series they've licensed the English version for nline, I'll download those bitches. It's the same thing they did. Instead of being a courtious and kind consumer, I'm going to threaten them and rip their balls off by not paying for English versions of their series'.

I'm not going to make a huge dent in their money making, no. But I'll certainly feel so much better about it. And you know what? At least they won't have the $20+ dollars that came from my wallet.

You could always put a bomb in the coffee at their meetings

So what? You can't sub those two animes anymore? Thats BS. I hope FUNimation goes down the drain one day and another company takes their place that isn't afraid to keep some of the elements from the original.

It just shows how shitty their presentation of the product is that they feel the need to worry about fansub distribution.

A good friend of mine got totally fucked over by them, they mean business and they go for the throat.

Glad to have you aboard LikkleBaer! It's true, they'll screw over anyone with any chance they can get for as little reason as they can possibly, legally, come up with. They've become smart and retarded at the same time... Who would have thought?
