I don't know who is to blame, but I hate it and I will probably cry if they do the same to Naruto.

4Kids recently announced that they'll be releasing uncut versions of their licensed anime. This includes One Piece. So whether or not the dub sucks on TV, you can always buy the DVDs!

As for Naruto, Viz licensed Naruto... whether or not they're any good with the dub will be a question answered when it airs, but Viz has almost always released their DVDs completely uncut. And they also know that they'd get flamed to shit if they didn't.

They're not THAT stupid, no matter how hard we want to believe it.

I absolutely adore their InuYasha movie 1 & 2 DVDs: They provided any anime collector's dream for DVD releases: The couldn't be helped English audio track with all the onscreen text replaced with translation and shitty title graphics (think the domestic Pokémon movie titles, only slightly more tasteful), but if you either set up the Japanese audio before starting the movie in the menu, or hit the angle button, BAM! Instant original Japanese onscreen text, original title, and the cool shit we all want! Fully and 100% intact!

Let's hope they decide to, if nothing else, do this with Naruto.

Getting back to how butt-awful One Piece on Toonami is...

You know the rice balls the little girl makes for Zoro when he's tied up in the yard of the Navy base? In this verison they're "Cookies", and they digitally pasted badly-drawn pictures of cookies OVER the rice balls. The picture even stayed in one place when the girl's hands moved. How half-assed and useless is that? What's wrong with rice balls? Can't it be even a little true to the original?!

Yeah I did notice one of the cookies trmbling a bit and it crossed my mind that it may have been digitally pasted. Whats wrong with rice balls really? I mean its rice...in a ball...people eat rice over here in America legally so I dont see the problem...hell they had rice balls on pokemon (strangely enough they called them donuts..I see a connecting going on ¬.¬)

They're evil, what can I say? Doughnuts? Cookies? WTF? Its plain white rice stuck together with special paste with some seweed covered veggies in the middle...

Come on? Onigiri rocks! Cookies suck... most of the time... <eats the chocolate chip cookies next to him>... sometimes...

Anyway, I'll have to take your guys' words for it. I'm not a follower nor a fan of One Piece. I've seen only various episodes strewn throughout the broadcast on FoxBox/4Kids! TV. I can't stand the characters in contrast to the backgrounds. Not my thing... One is digitially colored and the other looks pencil colored.

Granted its unique, and everyone seems to like it. I can't stand it personally. Maybe one of these days I'll give it another shot though. The later episodes don't look to bad compared to the earlier ones I saw... or I might just be getting used to it. I dunno.

Worse news, there will be NO unedited One Piece DVDs, or even any with the Japanese audio track!

While Viz will be releasing Naruto in English only first, with the unedited Japanese dubbed version to follow, they have informed us that this will not be the case with One Piece. Not involved with the show's production, Viz will not be releasing an unedited or Japanese version at a later date.

Any true fan of the Japanese One Piece would totally disagree, Ty. The American version is so absolutely offensive to us, that denying us an unedited DVD release is like pouring salted acid on a fatal wound.

Seriously. The american version must have been done by a 10 year old kid. That's right, one kid. It's like he shuffled around all the footage, wrote a bunch of shitty new music, did most of the voices himself, and got his friends and parents to do the voices of the slightly older or slightly more female characters. It's that. Fucking. Bad. It makes Yu-Gi-Oh look like Gray's Anatomy.

Oh ho ho ho, top-class ripping.

I like the "salted acid" bit especially.

Well then, illegal fansubs of One Piece it is. I hope Viz is happy.
