Tenchi OAV 3's New Ryoko

Today I became both a very happy and a very sad panda... It's strange to recieve both emotions at once; almost disappointing, yet exciting at the same time...

It was announced some time ago (I just missed it somehow) that all the voice actors from the Tenchi OAVs 1 & 2, which were published under Pioneer Entertainment, would be returning to perform for Tenchi OAV 3 with FUNimation Studios, who acquired rights to the third installment of the series before Geneon (successors of Pioneer) could snag it up.

Oh, you couldn't imagine my happiness at the thought of not having to get used to some new and possibly incredibly horrible/gay actors that would take their places. It wasn't until a few headlines later... my gut wrenched. Ms. Petrea Burchard will not return to play the voice of Ryoko.

...

... Excuse me for a second... <walks to the edge of a cliff> GOD FUCKING DAMNIT ALL TO SHITFUCK HELL!! <walks back> Sorry. It just really pisses me off when my favorite actor in the series will not come to back to do a sequel. I mean... what the fuck, dude?! She was my favorite, she was my idol, she was my love out of all the Tenchi girls. Her voice is the very essence that makes Ryoko Ryoko...

<sighs and looks around, feeling better now that he got it out of his system> At any rate, it seems that Ms. Burchard and FUNimation "couldn't work it out", and either she refused to return because of it, or FUNimation didn't want her because of it. This is undisclosed and I don't think that we'll ever find out. Oh well. Shit happens, I suppose.

This is still cause to celebrate, though, among us Tenchi Muyo! fans. None of us will have to get used to new actors, and we'll be able to enjoy the third OAV as much as we have the first two. I know I about killed something when I heard Katsuhito/Jii-chan/Tenchi's grandfather in the Universe and Tokyo series' of Tenchi (not the same voice actor as in the OAVs). This will not be the case for the OAV 3. w00t!

Anyone wanna share my sentiments on any of this?

Im confused whats OAV? I saw Tenchi Muyo....Tenchi Universe....and Tenchi in Tokyo... arent those 3 already? They seemed to be incoherent as well (almost like the one before each never happened) Could you explain to me the 3 seasons I saw? Because it made no sense as to why they met eachother like 3 times :/ and what does OAV stand for? Is OAV like a movie or like a series thats actually coherent?

I love doing this:

OAV or OVA stands for Original Animated Video or Original Video Animation. It can be either or.

As for Tenchi, there are three TV series': Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo, and Tenchi Muyo! GXP; three OAVs: Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki 1, 2, and 3; and three movies: Tenchi in Love, Daughter of Darkness, and Tenchi Forever. Except the OAVs, everything is seperate of the other. Almost like a retelling using different circumstances. Universe is seperate from Tokyo, the OAVs, and the movies, and vise versa for each; this includes the movies which also aren't related to each other or any of the series' or OAVs.

OAVs 1, 2, and 3, titled "Ryo-Ohki", are the only Tenchi that relates to the previous release and is considered the true Tenchi story/timeline. The Tenchi OAVs are, in America, merely called Tenchi Muyo! and currently spans four DVDs. With the release of the upcoming OAV 3, it should span another two to three DVDs making it the complete and final Tenchi as far as everyone is aware.

Its confusing at first... but just bear with it.

Tenchi is a great series, and the OAV is considered THE Tenchi, yes. Ryoko is by far the best character, closely followed by Katsuhito (Grandpa), and then Kiyone. That's my lineup anyway, heh.

My Japanese isn't perfect, as a matter of fact I can just barely follow raw episodes. But I can tell OAV 3 is gonna rock the s0x0rz off Tenchi fans. I garuntee it as a fanboy of the series. There are only a select few anime I call myself a fanboy too, so that should count for something too.
