~~~Warning, if you are a Christian, this WILL offend you. If you are content with your faith, and care little of it's historicity, then do NOT proceed further. This is not an argumentative thread. I simply thought this would be interesting for those who care about this kind of stuff, and I know for a fact a few do.~~~
Bowling for Columbine did it to the gun culture.
Super Size Me did it to fast food.
Now The God Who Wasn't There does it to religion.
Holding modern Christianity up to a merciless spotlight, this bold and hilarious new film asks the questions few dare to ask. And when it finds out how crazy the answers are, it dares to call them crazy.
Your guide through the bizarre world of Christendom is former fundamentalist Brian Flemming, who unflinchingly explores the absurdity of belief and believers. Along the way, you will discover:
Jesus Christ is likely a fictional character, a legend never based on a real human.
Christian doctrine contradicts itself at every turn, and encourages immorality when it serves the religion.
The beliefs of moderate Christians make even less sense than those of extremists.
And God simply isn't there.
The God Who Wasn't There may delight you or anger you. Perhaps it will do both. But you'll never look at Christianity the same again.
Hold on to your faith. It's in for a bumpy ride
I'm actually reading a few books on this subject, and The Beast is a historical fiction based on these theories coming on 6.6.06.
I am a Christian and I am not offended. As long I have been a Christian there has always been stuff like this. For some reason there are people who do not share my faith who continually feel the need to attack it.
This to me almost seems the same as console fanboy-ism. I have a Xbox, you have a PS2. I say Ps2 SUxors, you say Xbox Suxors. This is how I justify my decision to buy a Xbox.
Of course here there is money involved so I think I can understand it a little bit. Because in todays American society...the more controversy the more money the movie will make.
How much was their budget. 40, 50 bucks?
Some people see it as wrong, that is why they attack it. It's one of those things, though. Can I religion really be wrong? Especially if it helps someone's life. The fellow that is making this documentary, and The Beast, is a former fundamentalist Christian. I think he sees it as helping people free their minds. I just think the formation of Christianity, especially 120 - 350 AD, are fascinating.
Very, very little budget. It's only going to be DVD available on the net, so I really don't think it will make much.
Well, they should rename the "God" movie "The Passion of the Realm" starring Ryan Nichols as God....it will be an autobiographical movie.
