Well, if you don't like their new shit, I could understand, but if you think they all around suck then you're just a stupid fuck.

I've listened to RBF since shortly after the release of Turn the Radio Off in 1996. Ska purists hate them, but I listen to them because to me I can summarize them in one word, "Fun." Come on who else puts, "I wanna fuck the bitches, but the bitches won't fuck me," as their secret song. They're a really fun band to check out, especially Turn the Radio Off and Why Do They Rock So Hard. Besides, RBF has come out with a CD around Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, it's kind of a tradition for me.

And as Richie mentioned, many people hate their new stuff. While I love their old stuff more because of the special place in my heart it holds with memories, I recognize their need to change. The elitist perspective I talked about with Star Wars and how people get an image or sound in their head of a movie/band, make it their own, and then when the original creative source deviates from it they freak out and hate it is very present in music as well.

Nick Hexum of 311 had a really interesting quote on the subject:

In high school I used to think bands sold out when they changed, and some do, but a lot of times they just grow as people and need to change. A lot of people got pissed off at Tool because Lateralus didn't have as much of the anger(even as the positive struggle that was so prevelant in Aenema) in their songs.
Maynard James Keenan wrote:You can go out and buy the records. There's Opiate [a 1992 EP], there's Undertow. The whole idea is to get it out: Write the song about it, spout off about it and get over it. I suppose I could repeat myself over and over again, but what's the point of that? The idea is, if I can't heal from my art, then how can you heal? So I've worked some things out and moved on."

Times change, people change, everything changes. Change is the universal constant, the only constant. You just have to evolve with it.

Perfect.

Their new CD isn't bad at all and one song makes me laugh SOOO FUCKING HARD...here's some lyrics:
Reel Big Fish wrote:I wrote this song about you
I wrote this song about you
Just to let you know that I hate your guts
And I think you suck...

...This is your song
Congratulations
You're the inspiration
I hate you so much
That I wrote this song
Congratulations
You're immortalized
I hate so much
I hope you fuckin' die
Awesome song.
