Unfortunately, you saw right... Those whacky people in Japan have just gone over whacky into a realm I don't even know of...

At the Tokyo Animation Fair, plans for the Powerpuff Girls anime were announced as a joint project between two well known anime studios and the most popular cartoon channel on basic cable: Toei Animation, Aniplex, and Cartoon Network.

Right now the project has been tentatively named "Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z", which roughly translated mean, "Appear! Powerpuff Girls Z". Do you think they've lost their minds, or will this become an instant success? I won't watch it, I don't watch the normal Powerpuff Girls... I think they're insane. You?

I liked the original. This new one seems odd to say the least. I mean, the original is already anime influenced. Now they're taking it all the way. I don't know, but it seems like a plan to milk the license for what it's worth. I'll save judgement until I see it though. I don't know, I'm interested, but skeptical.

I watch American cartoons from time to time like Justice League, Static Shock, Teen Titans, and even the new The Batman, and they're pretty good. I enjoy them. I could never get into Powerpuff Girls... I think its a combination of the fact that they're hands and feet are rounded stubbs and the voices are too entirely squeeky for my tastes. Granted Bubbles plays the voice of Raven in Teen Titans, I'll give her due credit, but I still can't stand them...

My statement of not watching it isn't entirely true. I'll take a look at the first episode when it airs in Japan to actually see how it is, but chances are 95% likely that I'll never watch another episode. But then again, who knows? There's still that 5% chance I could get addicted. I still think they're insane, though.

The original friggin drove me nuts just because it existed (I hated it) But the anime could possibly be worth watching. Lets just hope the violence is a LOT better than what was in the original. So when does the first episode air? Have they said?

So far very little information has been said about it. All there was at the last con in Japan were a few images with the name. The character designs do look cool, I have to admit:

I'll keep on eye on it and send any information this thread's way, I promise. As I said on the first post, even the title is tentative at this moment. I wouldn't count on an air date even if it was released at that time.

WHAT THE FUCK!? LMAO! Dude that gave the green one that big hammer its gonna be like Amy off of Sonic X or Sonic Adventures. XD Whats the green ones name? Buttercup or somethin like that? At least they dont have stubs for arms anymore like little crappily designed plushies. When you really think about it they wouldve been a prime candidate for Silent Hill 4 cause when you get down to it something with stubs for arms and legs and can hurt you is pretty damned freaky if not downright scary.

I dunno I MAY watch it when it comes out...like I said the violence would have to be alot better I mean when I used to watch it it was like....everytime they hit someone the scren would flash with their color and it would go into a slow-mo of whoever they hit flying away form em with a messed up face and blood comming out their nose. Few times would you get to see them hit the bastard.

I think I will check it out when it arrives. Which is to say that I am not paticularly looking foward to it, but when it comes out I will view it. I will never go out of my way to get the show, but should a friend bring it over I wouldnt mind watching it.........(<<< this could go on for awhile)

It should be obvious now that I have seen the original. Which is to say that....(haha just kidding)

I agree mostly with Typheus.

I actually think the new character designs aren't half bad at all... I kinda agree that they should have some real weapons instead of fists. As you can also see, professor obviously isn't "daddy" anymore (he looks about the same age at them), so the storyline might even be totally different from what we see on Cartoon Network's original.

I'm kinda hoping for a cross between Magical Girl Sasami and Sailor Moon, here. I'd watch this just for the silliness...

Being produced and animated by very popular animation studios, I'm almost positive we're going to see of physical action here. FMA is Aniplex's after all. We all know how kick ass that show is.

We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

What Aniplex is helping to make this? >> SWEET SHRIMP ON THE BARBE!!! lol j/k but that will be very interesting to see how they do a childish kid show into an anime when they seem to make very violent and philosophical animes like FMA. Then again I have no idea what other animes they made.

Im gonna love to see how in the hell Bubbles is supposed to attack with bubbles...I can see a yoyo and definitly a hammer but unless they explode like dynamite xD

Aniplex has done, "Blood", "Fullmetal Alchemist", "Gavitation", "King of Bandit Jing", "Naruto (Movie)", and "Read or Die (TV & OAV)". They've done a few more, but they aren't as well known as the above.

Toei has done titles such as, "AIR (Movie)", "Boys Over Flowers", "Digimon", "Dragonball" series, "Evangelion (Movies)", "One Piece", "Sailor Moon", "Saint Seiya", "Xenosaga the Animation", "Yu-Gi-Oh!", and "Zatch Bell". There are a lot more, but those are just the more popular ones out of their long, long, long ass list.

In short, we've got two kick ass studios working on it.

Wow ive sen alot of those.

FMA, Digimon, DBZ, One Piece is comming to Toonami soon, Yu Gi Oh, Sailor Moon, Read or Die movie.... sadly I saw much more kiddy ones than bloody ones...o well.

With those two working on it it should be very good. Just about all those animes listed went way past 25 episodes.
