ADV Special Sale

Valid April 1st through the 3rd in 2005
Everyone who knows me on this forum knows how much I despise ADV Films and everything in relation to them (except, maybe, in joint projects). Richie and my fansub boss SquaDus especially -- they have sat through many a rant on the hateful vengeance I wish to wreak on ADV and their anime division.
However, I did sign up for their monthly newsletter and all special offers so I could keep an eye on what they decide to shit-fuck on a monthly basis. Gotta keep up with the anime world... I was just informed at exactly 12:00AM on April 1st that ADV is holding an April 1st-3rd specialty sale.
Want to know just how these bastards rate their sales? Of course. Normally, you'd probably hear endless profanity from me (or read, as the case may be), however... ADV seems to either be fucking insane or just don't give a shit. What am I talking about? Example: "Martian Successor Nadesico: The Complete Chronicles" retails for about (rounded down to the nearest bill) $80 -- check for yourself at Amazon.com or Suncoast (prices vary, of course). ADV's special? A fucking beautiful $10 (rounded up from $9.98 ).
Insane? Yes. But so very, very beautiful. It's better than the $80 you would pay at Amazon or at your local retail store, and importing the complete set would cost you double just for the shipping fee. As much as I hate to advertise for ADV Films (I still hope they die someday very soon), I say suck'em for all their worth. I'm sure as hell not going to get Nadesico anywhere else for that price... Expect it to enter my collection.
EDIT: Yes, kitsune is correct (in my ramblings I forgot to mention it); only certain items, namely some of their popular older series', are on sale. Sorry 'bout that.

And keep this in mind...
"Unless specifically noted, products (and the accompanying packing) may be previously owned, used, demos or cutouts. Otherwise, products offered through this sale are clearance and close-out items. As such, product bar codes may be reconfigured, replaced or physically altered (including by means of cutting, punching or drilling). Some products may be open box. Some products may be delivered without full retail packaging. Except as expressly provided otherwise, products are sold as-is."
And Martian Successor Nadesico is up to $ 29.98 on the site now.
Still might be woth ordering some things though, the Menchi and Mechazawa plushes catch my eye.

Yeah, I know. But for $10 I bought Nadesico. As long as the DVDs themselves work, I don't give a shit whether the packaging is damaged or not... It's what inside the packaging that counts. If I really can't stand it, I'll save up more money and buy a good copy from Amazon.
They take back defective items too, just in case the DVDs themselves are damaged. Keep that in mind as well.

Ok, that disclaimer just made me wary is all.

I didn't mean anything by that last post of mine (but I was having a bad day), just expressing my opinions that others probably share. If the DVDs don't work, send the whole thing back and maybe you'll even get a better case the next time around... You never know. But if you wanna be on the totally safe side and want everything 100% in tact, buy it from Amazon.

I bought a butt-load this time around. Lots of good stuff cheap.
I just hope they're not too mangled.

Fucking sweet... Too bad I'm dead broke.
I might've gone for the Devil Hunter Yohko collections and the Dirt Pair Flash collection. I dunno... I would've definitely got the MegaMan collection. I do have one question:
Does anyone know if they changed anything video wise with the release of their new packaging design for New Kimagure Orange Road? I know mine has Madoka on the front, not Hikaru. I would chalk up the money somehow if they took the fucking permanent English text that's right next to the Japanese. Its annoying as hell.
<also notices the Samurai X: Reflection - Director's Cut> Come on... <looks around his room and in his couches> There's gotta be some money around here somewhere... Damn me for not waiting to see if they'd release one! I should've waited before getting the regular edition.

I know, those are two of the things I got. Reflections directors cut and Trust and Betrayal director's cut. The Ruroni Kenshin OVAs blow the tv series away, especially the Christian and Fung Shuei arcs at the end of the series.
I don't know about the Orange Road packaging. Did you check to see whether the cover is reversable? Sometimes there is an original Japanese cover on the back of the english one.

The anime of Rurouni Kenshin doesn't even follow the anime religiously after about 20 or so episodes. You got the Shishio arc, and that's the last real one you get from the manga... The manga incorporates Trust & Betrayal and Reflections and goes further to finish the Enishi saga which wasn't even included in the anime except for the very last part, which was totally rewritten. Those two last arcs you mentioned weren't even in the manga.
The first OAV (T&B) is the only Rurouni Kenshin anime that took directly from the manga... which was so cool since it was the best ever.

It was a little slow in shipping, but I finally received Martian Successor Nadesico. Yay! 100% brand new, and the only damage it had was a slight crease in the cover slip, and a small hole in the cover film and the UPC code. Otherwise, it was still shrink wrapped and I had a hard enough time opening each of the four cases, which means no one has opened them before me.
I'd be interested to hear anyone else's comments on their package for the Martian Successor Nadesico collection, as well as others from either of the ADV sale. More so the Samurai X: Reflection - Director's Cut DVD.

I'll let ya know.
They haven't even taken the money out of my account yet.

Ok, got it.
All of the single DVDs were factory sealed, there was one scuff on the bottom of the cardboard Kaleido Star box set, and there are small holes in all the UPC codes.
I'm pretty happy, I got about 40 DVDs for around $6 each.
I was afraid I'd just get DVDs without cases or cover art, but everything looks good.
Can't wait to watch the Ruroni OVA director's cuts and see if there's any noticable difference.
