FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: SHAMBARA WO IKUMONO / “Conquerer of Shambala”
In Theaters: July 23rd, 2005 – DVD Rental: Unknown – DVD Release: Unknown – Unlicensed
Munich, Germany – 1923
Two years have passed since Edward Elric came from his world to the “actual world”, leaving behind everybody and everything he knew, including his younger brother, Alphonse. Now 18-years-old, Ed is stripped of his alchemy power and has replaced his missing arm and leg with artificially skinned prosthetics. Though looking much closer to flesh, they aren't able to move as freely as automail.
He has spent his time studying rocketry science together with Alphonse Heiderich, a young man with a stunning resemblance to his own brother, hoping to one day find a way back home. His efforts have so far proven fruitless until he finds that the Thule Society, an occultist group which has strong bonds with the Nazi party, discovered what could be a clue to the legendary place called “Shambala”, and Edward's hopes in returning to his own world are renewed.
Soon after, Ed comes into contact with a mysterious man named Mabuse, who tells him that people have sighted a gigantic 'snake' in a ruined castle. 'Snake' doesn't ring a bell for Ed, but he remembers the homonculi Envy transforming into a large serpent and diving deep into the Gate, trying to reach the other side. It is then that Ed becomes interested in the rumors...
Amestris – 1923
Appearing from the swirling mists of sand, there gallantly stands a young man clad in a red coat that flaps freely in the wind. It is not the Fullmetal Alchemist Edward Elric, but his younger brother, Alphonse, who now claps his hands together to perform alchemy!
It has been two years since regaining his physical body, and he has diligently trained under Izumi, Ed ad Al's old teacher. His honest and innocent nature has guided him forward on his path through life, and he has claimed an active role in the world of alchemy.
With all recollection of his journeys with his brother gone, along with all of his late childhood, Al constantly asks about his brother, but no one tells him much. What he does know is that the only reason he exists now is because of Ed, and that Ed's disappearance is a part of it all.
Taking the coat that Ed left behind and dressing in the same outfit his brother wore, Al sets out on a journey in search of clues as to his brother's whereabouts, disregarding those who try to sway him from his mission. Everyone he knows is constantly worried about him because of this, but all Al can think about is, “Now... I will find him!”
