GC controller

Is it just me or does the GC controller layout suck major balls.

It looks like someone in special ed decided where the buttons need to go. There is one big button then a little smaller button below it. There are two other weird crescent shaped buttons on top. Plus a trigger button on the top. Along with a c-stick, it makes for a confusing layout. I blame that layout on my suckiness in SSB:M. I also think it would be horrible for any fighting game. It makes just as much sense as it does for an 8 ft tall wookie living with 2 ft tall ewoks.

Nintendo knows they screwed up with the controller.. and said that we have nothing to worry about because soon they are comming out with the cotroller:SP. Apparently it will fix the issues with the current controllers, but also add a new issue that slight less annoying than in the first (rumor has it the buttons will stick and the D-pad will randomly cut out). They also assured me that my Wang was absolutly Dinosauric! They gave me the same story with the screen of the origional GBA, and the same story yet again with the lack of jack (headphone jack) on the GBA:SP.

Guess its just a matter of opinion. The GameCube controller is the most comfortable to me. And since Nintendo has inspired every controller design since the NES, you really can't dog on them too much.

The Xbox controller, even the type S, is the most uncomfortable to me. With the PS2 a close second. The Gamecube controller feels more like an extention of me, whereas I have to constantly think of what Im doing when I play the other two.

And, I didn't think you guys had a Gamecube?

Just because I don't have one, doesn't mean I haven't played with one. I play SSB:M at my good buddies house, and a lot of other things around the dorm. We all share good here like in kindergarten

Yeah, I was just thinking that is prolly why it isn't confortable to you guys. You are prolly use to whatever console you own. I own all three and have played them all extensively. And the GCN controller seems to be the best.

The crescent shaped button seem really wierd to me.. Not the way I would have designed it probably, but it seems to work..

For my daily unsubstantiated Rumor:
The Next gen Nintendo system will use a series of concentric circles as buttons. The centeral button will be the reset & format harddrive button for the entire system.

GC controller doth pwn, except for fighting games. If you wanna play good fighting games, get a Dreamcast. Fuck anything else, just get the damn Dreamcast! I think it still has the best selection of fighting games, period.

Juan and EMP, I used to feel exactly the same way you do. I hated the controller layout, thought it was stupid and random, and I couldn't do shit in SSBM because of it.
Then I played it more... and played it more...
And now I share Break's opinion. I think it's the best controller.
We freak out mentally because we see the crazy layout, and that's all we think about for a while. But once we get used to the layout and realize it's not bothersome, that it actually makes some buttons easier to press, it's all good. It just is really really comfortable once you get used to it.
My only problem with it is that the Z button could be a little bigger...

Hells yes the gamecube controller is the best! When I first held it in my hands I was in love with it. I'll own you all at SSB:M due to the fact that the controller and I are one. I sleep with my wavebird next to my pillow at night. Yeah it's crazy, but it's safe there.
