Well guys so much has been going on in the Battlefield Arena lately that I haven't had time to let everybody know about it. Richie, Realm you guys probably already know this stuff but for the rest of you there are some exciting things happening right now. Here's the rundown.

For Battlefield Vietnam:
The official 1.2 patch has been released that includes some really great new maps and some new vehicles. Most of the new maps (if not all) have not only flags to capture above ground but also include a tunnel system now. These add a new depth to the game and are a lot of fun. It is a crazy labyrinth down there. It's really fun to see how good you are at bouncing grenades off corners etc.

Also, Point of Existence 1.5 has been released. I would say that given a few more releases, this mod will be the DC of BF Vietnam. It's a mod that takes place in a ficticious war between the U.S. and Russia. It's very large scale modern combat with some great maps , vehicles and weapons. The only thing they haven't worked on too much to this point are some really good character models for both the U.S. and Russia, but I'm sure we'll see those in an upcoming update.

For Battlefield 1942:
Here is where I get super happy. Trauma Studios released this week that it is creating a new game for DICE using the new Battlefield 2 engine. On top of that, the members of Trauma who weren't able to make the move to DICE and start working on that game have a real treat for their fans... Desert Combat: FINAL.

This is the final release for DC and I must say it's absolutely fantastic. New models (you'll notice our Marines are wearing the new MARPAT camouflage) for both the U.S. and the Iraqi's, some fantastic new maps and new sounds. The new sounds are really what sets this game into the upper echelon as far as I'm concerned. When you get in that Abrams and jump up to the .50 cal on top... well let's just say if your speakers are up your neighbors will know it!

Needless to say out of all of these the new DC Final is a must have, however all of the new updates/patches are wonderful. Dial-up users beware because all of these updates are around 300mb.

See you guys on the Battlefield!

 DC Final...whoa.

/me starts the download

Can't say I've seen PoE, but I've heard good things about it on forums and such. If I get tired of DC, I'll check that out.

Yeah, I did a post about 1.2, saying what you said: The new tunnel maps fucking rock. It's very much about who gets draws a bead first, and I like it that way. :D

UPDATE: Well, tried playing Final, then figured out that I've gotta have DC .7 installed BEFORE I install Final. *sigh* So now I wait here in a FilePlanet line waiting for .7. It's times like this that I seriously consider paying for a FilePlanet subscription.

Actually you should sign up for File Shack. It's free and you still have to wait in line, but the lines are nothing like the ones at File Planet. Usually my wait is 1 minute or less. They fucking rock over there.

GamersHell.com is another good one.
