Ok, just to restate what Jack said on the front page.....Holy Shit. Look, I don't get scared...I just don't. Blame it on being raised on Doom and Doom 2, but let me tell you, Doom 3 scares the living shit out of me. My eyes are wide open 110% of the time, just to make sure that I can see every little shadow that the brilliant flashes of light might make evident. I read Time magazines article on Doom 3 and id. It is a well written article, check it out. This game is fucking brilliant. You will catch yourself saying, "Oh, I am used to and desensitized to scary games and I play them all the time." No. No you haven't. Not like this. Doom 3 breaks the mold to all that we once knew. Get it. Amazing. Fucking Amazing.

I want this game so bad after seeing and hearing everything. I'm way too broke though now, especially since they feel they should charge more. Plus I'm waiting for the demo to see how well my machine will run it. I wish it would come out already.

I've been reading all these reviews of this "master game." It makes me happy, most happy indeed. If you have read PA today you know that Tycho can't get enough of it. He's practically giddy. That shit also makes me happy since he is a personal icon of mine. Doom 3 has to be, according to the articles, the most fantastic and splendiforus re-make in the history of the known universe. For this I am eternally grateful to the code wizards at id. I think the above comments are entirely too much praise to be heaped upon one game. However, I think it's worth it and I haven't played ONE FUCKING LEVEL! To that end, I am still happy.

Well, the demo is finally upon us, and I got it the other day. Now first I'd like to say that my machine is far from what you'd call a powerhouse. I'm running a 1.4 GHZ machine with a Geforce 3, 512 MB RAM, and SB Live sound card. Nothing special, and I was actually worried that I wouldn't be able to play the game at all.

Wow, I was surprised to see that I can actually play the game, and that it realy looks damn good all things considered. It is a bit choppy when things first come on the screen sometimes and when there's a lot going on with lighting and enemies, but it's definitely playable for me. And even at 640x480 it looks better than most games out there. I can't wait to get a proper rig to play Doom 3 on, but I'm way too broke for that now. So instead I found an unregistered like new copy of it on Ebay for under half price, so I'll be playing the full game hopefully soon.

And yeah I've jumped a few times playing the demo. The atmosphere and classic style gameplay made me want the whole game even if my system won't do it complete justice. Plus I'm very curious to see and play the Doom I and II mods for the game. That I really want to see.
