Is it possible? Has the microsoft actually produced a quality rpg for the Xbox? Right now, I'm saying yes. I've only had the game for a couple days now, but oh man! So far I'm hooked. Loading times and handiling are about as smooth as I think they can be so far. Easy button config allows you to cycle through inventory and attacks and allows for combo attacks in real time battles. So far so good, if you've got an Xbox Sudeki is worth the $$$.

Hey Valentine. Have you played Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube? If so, how is it and how does it stack up to Sudeki. Both of these games look awesome and I am a fan of the realtime battle system. Just curious.

Sadly I have not played ToS, I would have but a situation forced me to relinguish my GC. ~tear~ As far as I know, ToS, is simply awesome. Original artwork, gripping storyline and good controls. Other than that, I'd have to get back to you after I get a chance to play it.

If you own a Gamecube, you NEED Tales of Symphonia.

Awesome! Thanx to both of you for your input. I've finally got a little break from school and I want to sink my teeth into a good game.

Well, I've played both games, Tales and Sudeki. I've put a lot more time into Tales so far, but here's my thoughts.

Tales is simply awesome. It's got enough traditional RPG elements to keep purists happy, but they're keeping with the realtime combat that, to me, makes it fun. The combat is fun, story is good, and presentation is well done too. My only wish is that they voiced the entire game. The characters talk when they feel like, sometimes it's only for main plot, other times its something minor. I'd liked to have had full voice acting throughout. And for NPC's a few voice doubles wouldn't have ruined it for me. Many games do that already, and I understand it. Sadly I don't own Tales yet, just renting from Gamefly, but this game will be mine when I get more money.

Sudeki is interesting so far. I was interested for quite a while, then played the demo. I liked it so I pre-ordered it with the bonus soundtrack. So far, I'm not sure what to think. The combat is kind of cool, but either I suck, or I haven't leveled up enough yet to get cool moves. It seems a little clunky so far.. The graphics are good though, and story is kind of interesting so far. However the voice acting is passible to quite terrible. Some characters are good. The main two characters I've met so far are ok, but wow, some of the NPC's are laughably bad. I plan to put more time into it this week, so I hope I grow to like it a little more. It's not a bad game, but I was maybe just expecting a little more. Should help me hold out till Fable in September.

On a side note, where do you set your D-Pad quick spells and items up in Sudeki?

Wow, awesome post Wrath. I'm a big anime fan and it seems both of these games find thier roots in anime, so that makes me happy in the wang area. Also, sadly, I'm not a RPG purist. I'm a Legend of Zelda action RPG gamer. So the realtime combat is much more appealing to me than turn-based play(sorry Jevin & Death). Thanks for the mini break-downs! These two games have a very large part of my interest at the moment unitl WoW comes out, which by the way is November 16th.

Ok, so after logging a few more hours into Sudeki, this game has gone from excellent to great, which is a slight drop in the alcoholic game rating system. Now, it's not because the game lacks substance, but wholey crap! If you're having problems keeping your party alive, IT IS NOT BECAUSE YOU SUCK AT COMBAT. Currently I've had to replay a couple different scenarios trying different strategies to make headway through the game. My biggest complaint is that there is not enough healing in the game. But if you're starting to reel from the beatings a couple suggestions:

When you get Buki in the party have her learn the skill "Asilas the Wolf" or something like that, when she summons it it's a 5th party member to draw fire and attack enemies which is a great thing. Secondly, whenever your SSP meter is full, feel free to unload on your enemies as much as possible. And lastly, stock up on as much healing potions as you can right from the start and continue to restock no matter what. Another option to consider is to control Ailish and simply play the healer in combat to keep your attackers alive.

Other than that, I'm still pretty glued to this game for the time being.

OK, I've put more time into Sudeki, and things are getting a little better. I'm still not hooked though. I'm just not having much fun with the combat even though it's realtime. The controls just seem a bit sluggish, like when I hit attack, or especially dodge, I want to dodge now, not 2 seconds later when I get hit.

My biggest complaint though is the lack of AI control options. You can only choose to have them attack, defend, or run away. I really wish you could tell them what spells, moves, etc you wanted them to do. Mainly, I want someone to just be the healer. It's really early on, and I'm getting murdered already. You have to constantly babysit all the other characters so they don't die.

I'm beginning to wish I had rented Sudeki and bought Tales of Symphonia instead. I may trade it in for something I want more since I'm broke and I'm just not having much fun with the game. I'd definitely recommend Tales.

If anyone really wanted Sudeki and wanted to trade or offer something, I may be interested.

I became disenfranchised with this game at the very end when I beat the game and the ending completely and totally ruined everything that was cool about it. Boo to the makers of this game for doing a great job from start to 99% finish, but that last 1% of the game made me want to cringe. All I can say is... please let Fable redeem my faith.

I finally got around to renting Sudeki and it was very enjoyable. The character design and voice overs were pissing me off though. I also didn't enjoy the first person shooting element. Not to mention all the slowdown during combat...I hate slowdown... I was sad that I didn't get to finish it before it was due back, I read that it's a very short game. Maybe i'll rent it again.
