I don't think it's as big of news as you say. If headlines read, "Nintendo Cures Cancer", that on the other hand, would be big news.

See, that's what I'm saying siege...but rumor has it that LucasArts is doing a Rebel X collection on xbox w/ xbox live co-op.

Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen. Also, don't forget that Factor 5 is still working on Pilotwings for the next nintendo system....if it actually is going to come out.

Two star wars games...Star Wars Rogue Leader, and Star Wars Rebel Strike...

Though technically, Rogue Leader was a GC launch title, so it's not in the past 2 years. They also developed a new DivX codec for the Xbox.

thanks Jack.

Nintendo is not in as much trouble as this may iterate, though. they still bring the top 1st person lineup in video games. Nintendo is about to step up in a way most people don't see coming.....like Wayne Brady...

so BREAK Yo'self foo!! Riverside, muthaf*cka!!

I think the better question is- Will these developers give N another chance in the next generation? The third party problems on the N64 were a disaster. The Gamecube hasn't reached that level yet, but the direction looks all too familiar.

Jay- from a quality standpoint, you are very right with regard to Factor 5. Silicon Knights is about to peak in a major way and were held back with the Metal Gear rehash. SK is going to be a dynamite developer.

But again the problem is perception. Sure, Viewtiful Joe and Zelda were many critics best games of last year, but the general frat boy doesn't give a crap. Frat boy doesn't want a purple lunch box that doesn't have 3446 crappy games a month on the Target shelf.

Nintendo pridefully ignores perception and goes it's own narrow road as usual. The problem is, how much profit do they have to lose before they start really respecting the AMERICAN market?

Just because you make your system look good and have good third party relations doesn't mean you still can't develop the best games of all time.

I didn't realize that N64 had more 3rd-party problems than GC? I didn't really follow the industry back then, but it always seemed like Playstation had way more games than 64.
