Tournament Madness!!!

Just checking in here from time to time. We had our first tournament of the year down here in New Mexico and it truly was our biggest and best yet, as we drew in around 110 people! Our previous high for most people at a tournament was 36, talk about a jump. We expected around 50 or so. We handled it all quite well tho.

Jack!!! There were 67 people there for Halo. It was crazy!!! We had 6 TV's going, so there was a lot of watching, but everyone had a blast. Once again, McTeam swept the field. While there were some good players, McTeam plays in national tournaments and it showed. We had 16 4v4 teams. Not everyone stayed for the 2v2, but we still had over 20 teams for that.

Soul Calibur 2, what can I say? We had a 32 man bracket, it was awesome. I ended up getting 8th, but at least I was in the top 25%. It was a really good one.

Anyway, just thought I'd put the word out to all you BreakmanX people to see if any of you are interested in hitting up the next one seeing as we have a date set. May 29th! That's plenty of time to save up those pennies if you feel like going to a huge Halo tournament. There'll be a 4 or 5 dollar cover charge, and a $10 fee per event (2v2, 4v4). There will be even more Halo players there. I'd expect around 80 Halo players this time. If they all jump in 4v4, that's $800 bucks to be split between 1st, 2nd, and possibly 3rd, or $560, $160, $80. That's just for 4v4. I'd be willing to bet that over half stay for 2v2, let's say 60 stay for that. That's another $600 in prizes $420, $120, $60, not too shabby.

I just know that you know how to bring it Jack, and that the prize money will be pretty decent. Sorry, I don't think we'll be doing a FFA since most people are fine with teams, but who knows.

Other games for May 29th include:

Super Smash Bros Melee
Madden 04
Soul Calibur 2
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Tekken Tag
Tekken 4
Guilty Gear X2

Possibly Mario Kart DD

This will be in Albuquerque, NM and our admin is offering up some gift certificates for the person who brings in the most people, and a free hotel room for the person who travels the furthest.

Our venue will be bigger, there will be a lot more TV's, possibly a projector or two for Halo, it's going to be madness. I'd say we'll probably have at least 12 TV's for the next Halo. So if you're good enough, and interested in some of that prize money, start planning now, you've got about 2 and a half months left.

Post up if you're interested and I'll give all the details, or point you in the right direction.

Didn't know we had another Soul Cali player in here. SC2 was awesome. That's my favorite game and the comp was intense in just about every match. The most people we had was 22 before that. 32 was just awesome! I hope we can get something like 40 next time. It'll keep growing. We're raising our entry fees to attract some better competition and make it worth it for more out of state people to come.

We had people from an hour away, 2 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours, and even 8 hours away. Some people drove a long way just to have some fun. Next time they'll get some money for their troubles.

Update, there will also be a Soul Calibur 2 team tournament with 5 max, 3 min per team. We're still deciding if we want $5 per person, $15 per team, or $25 per team.

So none of you are interested in the loot for Halo? Jack, you don't have 3 other people willing to travel? Granted, the money will probably balance out the trip, maybe, but it's some good comp. We're only doing 1st and second. By our anticipated numbers and our 75% 25% split, that's $600 for first for 4v4, and $200 for 2nd place.

2v2 is only $5 per person so take those numbers and cut them in half, and that's the prize for 1st and second in 2v2 Halo. This is just the start of raising our Halo prices to lure in out of state gamers. The next tournament will probably have $20 entry fees per person to really make it worth it.

One of my friends is in the finals tomorrow at Gamestop for halo. Winner gets a brand new big screen tv for entering a free tournament. They don't have the greatest rules, but they do have one killer prize.
